Hi everybody,

Does anybody have a clue why, when searching for a file, a result may appear which says the user has 1 of 1 Available, yet when you try and download the file, you are put in a queue at like position 120? It seems also from my experience that it is primarily Japanese users who this happens with ... Also, a whois query shows 1 of 1 Available, too. How bizarre! Anybody got any ideas?

(sorry if anybody has posted this message before, I haven't been around this forum too long :)

well if they're japanese, there must be a lag between from when the search results were dispatched to when they acutally reached you. the whois is probably not fresh. you're in the UK? japan and the UK are like half a world apart, so.....

and no, no ones posted your question before, though we get a lot of people with problems connecting or downloading/uploading.

Thanks for the reply.

Whilst i understand there maybe a greater lag between UK-Japan than UK-UK, I cannot see how the delay can be so long that over 100 other users have jumped in there whilst my request was flying round the world!

When I chat with ppl in the Far East, there seems to be no longer a response time than elsewhere in the world, likewise with http requests, so a xfer request shouldn't really be affected either. Still trying to figure this one out ...

The other thing I noticed about these users is that they all share absolutely thousands of files (some >100gb!) ... so that would explain the large queue, but not the 1 of 1 Available. Maybe there is a bug on the frontcode servers which after a certain amount of files starts to mess up the queueing system? I dunno ... any suggestions?

well, it could be a bug too, but you said messages are fine. Messages are tiny compared to the libararies of some of the users I've seen. WinMx has a limited browse (not search results) and while you may see just a few thousand they may have more than that. Sending someones library though the links is rather user intensive, and there may be a little tiny lag in which a message may slide by unaffected but the huge file list may get caught up. and since they are sharing thousands of files, there are probably that many people wanting from the same selection as you.

But still, I haven't seen THAT many people with megahuge libraries where the browse has to be limited, so its probably a bug.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looks like we all agree on it being a bug ... /me emails support @ winmx to let 'em know ... they prolly already do, but maybe not ...
