I installed the full version of Kazaa (Version 2.0), and after a few days it started to lock up my machine by hogging CPU -- up to 98%, according to Windows Task Manager. The CPU usage didn't seem to be related to downloads/uploads, which seemed to slow down or stop completely -- indicating a nasty bug?? I removed Kazaa from my system and tried a different one (LimeWire -- nice interface), but was not impressed with the available files or performance. I then installed Kazaalite with the trick hosts file and it has been working well for a day or so, but now the CPU-hogging behavior is starting again. Anybody have a clue about this? Right now I'm doing zero downloads/uploads, but Kazaa is using up to 20% of my cpu -- for doing WHAT?

I would remove Kazaa v2, run Ad-Aware (http://www.wyvernworks.com/Lavasoft/aaw.exe) with the latest Signature File (http://www.lavasoft.de/aaw/binary/reffile.zip) to clean everything out. Then install Kazaa Lite v2 (http://download-1.a13-aktuell.com/p2p/kazaa/kazaa_lite_200_english.exe) and see what, if anything, that does.

i've noticed this - when viewing files through "My Kazaa", it doesn't seem to clear the space from RAM.. and eventually fills up and crashes the PC. So don't you My Kazaa to view files :)

The media player in KaZaA freezes on me. I don't even use it anymore because of the way it locks up my PC.

It depends on what WMP version you have.....I use 6.4 an even on old ass P1 166mhz computers it didn't crash...slow as frozen shit but it didn't crash LOL

Way faster on it's own though (not being controlled through KL)

BTW Try Kazaa lite 1.7.1 see if it does it as well.....it may be because of the files you share....try zipping sets of MP3's by the same artist or just sharing less.

Peace all, Later
