Will you use the beta release of the Kazaa Lite Supreme Version Pack when it is released at http://www.spydar.150m.com?
This is basically to find out. And bring more awareness to my prog.

Wolfie thank you. Beta 1 release is due out as soon as i get the installer to the site's owner, which is a problem now.
Juggalo15 i dont know what dk with lemon is but it is for ver 2.0 and every version to come! It changes all kazaas to lite, helps remove altnet icons, a cool kazaa lite splash screen with the blue kazaalite logo @ kazaalite.com, and a specialized skin will come in further releases.
From what I gather from previous posts, it's just useless reshacks. I'll pass.
Thanks for looking to see what it was, but this poll was to bring awareness about my prog.
I shall pass also, I am a DietK Enthusiest for life.
Never tried DK but GL!

It doesn't seem like it will work as well as Diet K or that it is much of an improvement over Smash's version... but you could be lucky and do something that works well accidentally, so perhaps. But probably no.
lennox1
October 18th, 2002, 09:07 PM
wingnut2600 why? with your opinion i can improve the prog. Because it has a chat that doesn't work? Mine changes Everyhting while smash changed what? the 5 highly visible things?

to be honest, this doesnt really seem all that worth while. if im correct, all it does is change some cosmetic things. i suppose one would want their copy of kazaa to be cosmeticly pleasing, but most people really dont care. look at the success of winmx. and it is hidious. so, if you want to create somthing that will really capture the intrest of people, create somthing they could really use. for example, the new diet kaza boasts that you will be able to 'hop supernodes' which could be very useful, as one would be able to find more files. you really should try out diet kaza, especially the one that will soon be coming out for kazaa 2.0 . its really worthwhile, but doesnt offer a whole lot cosmeticly. maybe you could work with chip (diet k's creator) to incorperate your 'cosmetic' fixes into diet k.

Why not?
I guess I will try your program. I have seen what it is touted to do and it shouldn't make it work any worse. It seems that these are just changes to the GUI's appearance without any substantive change, but perhaps in the 60+ messages challenging those naysayers about the increased functionality of your progam as well as your trials and tribulations i missed the feature that will elevate this above all others. Will yours have a working chat client since Smash's doesn't work?
All I was saying about Smash's project versus yours is that he changed the interface quicky, got it onto the net and it worked (I assume). I have yet to see your program, and when I journeyed to the above url, I found that the 20MB limit has been exceeded. That means that what, about 10 people were able to download your program?
If you want to get it out to peple quickly and easily, why don't you put it out over the P2P networks? Just give it to a few people, tell people in one of your incessant posts that it is named "X" and tell them to DL it. Or, you could put it on gnutella or Kazaa using something like a hash or Sig2Dat Information. If the people at Zeropaid had a problem with you linking this, you could tell people to PM you and you would give them "details."
I think that it is cool that you are creating your own version of the program, but you can't tell me to give input when it is impossible to due to the project's status as vaporware.
Function is king. If you make a program that works well I will use it and others will as well.

wonderboy2005 cool, yea it is cosmetic. It is for those who like these kind of changes, but it'll be good for noobs, who look at kazaa lite and see 'Kazaa? Kazaa? Kazaa? I thought this was Kazaa Lite?!' LoL.
well it doesn't have a chat but i know that if it did, it WOULD't be bravenet!

Actually it hasn't been released. Itll prolly be released tomorrow(10-20-02)!Or the day after. and i screwed up on the url, the question mark became part of it:( But you know what they say, good things take time! from what i hear DK is good, and look how long its release is taking after kazaa?) Besides this is a first release, all problems are known, and further releases will be WAY faster :).

Oh well, I'll give it a try. Hex is strings of numbers that make up 'something'. If I got any deeper into it, you may not get it an I'll just start losing track of what I've explained so far. An most of it will make little sense LOL

I am truly curious.... how does one create their own version of kazaa without knowing what hex means? it truly doesnt seem possible to me, but then, I am far from omnipotent. But I think I can see it.... way over.....
there!
which brings me to my next thing... wingnut... as a regular frequenter of seedy bowling alleys as a child (dont ask, I am scarred) I remember this game, the original mass carnage game. but the announcer... he says, "good luck! youuuuuuuu'llll need it!"
and yes, I finally found my way home and away from those lecherous gypsies, but that is another story altogether.

"Refers to the base-16 number system, which consists of 16 unique symbols: the numbers 0 to 9 and the letters A to F. For example, the decimal number 15 is represented as F in the hexadecimal numbering system. The hexadecimal system is useful because it can represent every byte (8 bits) as two consecutive hexadecimal digits. It is easier for humans to read hexadecimal numbers than binary numbers.
To convert a value from hexadecimal to binary, you merely translate each hexadecimal digit into its 4- bit binary equivalent. Hexadecimal numbers have either an 0x prefix or an h suffix. For example, the hexadecimal number
0x3F7A
translates to the following binary number:
0011 1111 0111 1010"
webopedia (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/h/hexadecimal.html)
good site to get the basics on nearly anything related to computers.... at least it has more acronyms and definitions then I have ever heard of, doesnt say that much.
to properly edit hex you need a hex editor that will allow you to understand what the hell all those letters numbers and crap are actually saying.

Hello again Lennox1 !!! Now U even have a poll for the Supreme !!! And Hello for others too - I missed a day, when installing / testing new share apps and programmed an interface to run them with my needs (nothing too proud to send at Net - all my apps are alpha / beta because they newer grow up, always putting something more / changing things).
Then I found myself studying IRC with mIRC, especially it's file sharing possibilities (with a friend of mine) and we succeeded to put up our private "Bots" there at "certain channel" and found it a cool AND FAST way for sharing stuff. Try U all, it's really impressive.! (maybe not so trusted, but who would like to exchange personal info at P2P or IRC?)
Voted that "Maybe we'll see"-thing and that's winning now?
Nice to hear that You belong to the "Young New Enthusiastics" with always eager to learn more and more. Good, keep on pushin' !
I have those HEX, Binary and even Octal (8-based) numbers in my head, I can read Hex and ASCII as fast as german (1 word / 5 secs) without needing a translator. Maybe I have started programming too young - in the late 70's and early 80's everything was made of those code having much of them as Octal (PDP-6 -8 -11 and IBM - those "fill-my-living-room" -sized computers takin' tens of ampers AC and "blowing-da-fuses" every now and then).
At that time I programmed or patched things with "machine language" or assemblers, then came the B-language and following that "The C" with no plusplus and then Pascal of cource. It was fine feeling to write "english type" programs after all those numbers not matching our fingers...;-)
Why I'm telling that? Maybe just virtual chatting to gorphon, who really seems to be at same kind of background as I do...(tell me if I'm wrong!)
Peace ! (and be nice to each others...) :shy

Look man, ResHacking someone elses program is not cool. Besides that it is really annoying that you have 80+ threads about your "creation".
Do you even know basic programming strings? Any C++? C? Visual Basic?? QBASIC?!?!?!
Ok let me point you in the right direction... let's start with a very easy language.. qbasic. Here are some links that can help you:
http://www.qbasic.com/ (Remember the www because Microsoft owns the none www site.)
~Newbies: http://www.qbasic.com/newbies.shtml

~Tools: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/5967/qbasic.html (Lot's of handy tools and source code but do not get their horrid compiler as they make you pay to use it)
~Compiler: Well you can try searching google, but if you are stuck then PM me and I can send a compiler over an instant messenger or something.

Agree with Mr. MoonMan about QBasic (QB45) is a good Basic start to make real apps - although slow and funky ones'. With Visual Basic 6 enterprise or .Net VB (or Rational Rose's one) U can do even corporate apps with oledb-databases, web-integrations with ASP's and XML, embed there what U like and muchos more. Those links are good starting points and many e-books can be found at p2P....
(Dun that, been there as a programmer and systems analyst...)
Just begin to study more - I warmly recommend VB6-enterprice, because it's (too) easy to start making good looking forms and coding them up...
[Can be found at Donkey-sites "Sharereactor-releases...]
P.S. It's MS, but who cares - it's for Windows! (all versions portable)
Peace and happy learning to code! (start with "Hello, World" ;-)

U really started with a wrong leg if U startted with C++. I think that it's sometimes too heavy for even my nerves to keep all the .h-files together, link to correct (allmost same named) libraries, get an error at line 12 when the real error is a missing bracket at line 1200, referring directly to memory with a string variable, mixing up pointer types etc etc...
I can handle it now and thkx G there are now versions that runs the whole code throuhgt and gives all the (possible) info of errors and typos at the code...
BUT. VB6 is still my favorite - I started with Commodore-64 Basic, then along DOS PC's to QB1 - QB45, then came (along windows) VB3,4,5 and 6 with my Visual Studio (now at SP5), and I've been doing well with those. If I have a problem that cannot be resolved with VB, I create DLL-Modules with MSVC++ and make the "hard calls" through them or just use Inline-Assembler to put native Intel-instructions in between (mostly needed at operations that are slow to VB or have critical Kernel, User or GDI calls).
So - Look - (Lennox1 too) we can do it all with "modified" VB. If I had 1. time, 2. eagerness, I would be nice to all kingdom of earth and make one P2P app more out there, but wouldn't come here to say how great it Will Be (some day). I just would release ver 0.1a and say - hey DL it, become my beta-testers and would get a huge amount of criticism (I cannot handle it well - maybe that's the 3rd reason)...
P.S. Nice Avatar CCS-DUDE, How old is she (before I say more...)

With QB45 You have to break "several International Laws" and just get it. By p2p or some "linkz"...
I don't think MS is quite angry of "stealing" anymore at QB-case, because it's so old and needs DOS ([D]isk [O]perating [S]ystem) to work out..., which is not supported since Windows ME - somehow they want to just call it "command prompt" or "cmd"....;-)
