Alright I use MSN messenger as my only messenger program since no one in my area uses ICQ, AOL ect. Whenever I click on my email inbox and myspace buttons, internet explorer is always opened instead of firefox. Is it possible to have firefox open instead of IE?

You need to set the mailto: link to open with Firefox instead.
Google says "For the Firefox browser, the comparable is Tools, Options, General, Set Firefox As Default Browser."
EDIT: Page I got the info off - http://ls.berkeley.edu/lscr/advice/email/default-client

Ok it's most likely you won't be able because MSN is MS and I don't think they like Firefox very much. I'll keep looking.

Ok dude, I found a link with some bad but expected bit of information.
MSN Messenger is hard coded to open "New e-mail message" links with Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, every currently known workaround involves downloading and installing additional software. Nonetheless, it is still important to check that Firefox/Mozilla Suite is set as your default browser.

Now all is not lost, there are a few other programs that use the MSN Messenger etwork listed here...
- Miranda Instant Messenger (http://www.miranda-im.org/)
- Gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/)
- Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/)
Now I'm not sure if they work with Firefox but I know they wouldn't be hard coded like the original MSN.

Ahhh I guess there really isn't a way since I don't want to download something special to do that... thanks anyways! Unless there is a small extension? I'll have to look into that.

Pidgin is the same as gaim :)
Firefox is not going to work with MSN because of MS, but the new e-mail notification still works in msn. I use msn and have a Hotmail gadget on my iGoogle page instead. Works alright..
