With some gamers still venting concerns over the running temperature of the Xbox360, one company is hoping that its approach to solve the problem will be adopted by gamers across the globe.
The answer? Liquid cooling of course. CoolIT Systems has announced that it will be showing the worlds first liquid-cooled Xbox360 in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show this week.
To provide gaming consumers with a high performance option, CoolIT Systems has designed a retrofit product that will transform the stock forced air cooling system with a state-of-the-art liquid-chilled system.
“Whether it’s a PC or gaming console, the avid gamer is constantly raising the bar for performance", said Geoff Lyon, CEO of CoolIT.
The Microsoft Xbox360 has been the topic of much discussion since its release on Nov. 22, 2005 with many headlines being about problems related to the excessive thermal output of Microsoft’s latest gaming console product.
Pocket-lint will be attending the show in America from the 5–8 January 2006 with news updates from the show across the 4 days.

I think its shitty.. You shouldnt have to buy crap to make the xbox run faster or smoother.. microshaft should replace sh!tty units and draw up a new design on preventing it and put it on the market. Later you are going to have to buy a new dvd rom in it to play blue ray or HD-dvd.. i think its gonna be because ps3 will have it and more developers will jump on it since they wont be limited to the 8 gig dvd.

I agree, that is BS that you have to stick more money into a 400$ machine that is a little over a month old to make it run better. The average consumer isn't going to do this though because it's probably going to be atleast 100$ to do.

might be more than $100.........the pc cooler costs $399.99 so i would say half of that.

I have a question, can you buy PC towers with things like drink dispensers and tea/coffee machines build in?
Just wondering after seeing Krells mod thread...

I have only ever seen the custom made drink warmer and coffee machine case mods. I don't think we have advanced yet to see stock stuff like that :(

nope but im not sure that will be much of a loss
most of the games will be old games with better graphics
and the graphics arent even that special
truth is ppl buy a console coz its fast simple and comfortable to use
not to have huge problems and have to use mods and workarounds to get it to work
if ms dont hurry up and sort this the 360 will die
i just hope sony are taking all this in and testing the shit out of the ps3

Okay, this is a no-brainer to me. The Xbox360 has 3 core processors. Logic tells me that it would have a hell of a thermal output. Obviously liquid cooling is expensive for PC's, which cost a hell of a lot more than then the 360. So why would that be any different for the 360? So would you rather pay over a G for a decent PC with at least a dual core, nevemind the cost of a decent graphics card, or $400 for a 360? I'll take the 360.
As far as games go, the potential for the 360, as well as the yet unreleased PS3, won't be realized for quite some time. Gaming technology is way behind the limits of these systems. That point is mute.
I understand some people will stay away from the 360 because it's microshaft, but that is...well...your choice. One thing I will say: The original Xbox had a hell of a lot fewer problems upon release than the PS2.
Perhaps Sony will put out a system that will read discs consistantly...for more than a few months.
One question: Why is it so surprising that the 360 is $400? Why not, especially if people are willing to pay $300 for a handheld? Rumor has it that the PS3 will be more than the 360. Of course, it could end up being the better system. Guess we'll have to wait and see. In the mean time, quit yer bitchin'!

The potential graphics capabilities of the consols arnt as high as most people predict. Since you are running very limited cores with the same bottlenecks as most pc's you cant do all that much. Quite frankly the games on the xbox360 right now really do not impress me. They are minutely better then the games im playing on my computer.

Given past trends, I'd say it will be at least a year before anything mind blowing comes across the 360. Look at the first generation of xbox and ps2 games and you'll see what I mean. They don't compare to what's coming out now. As far as PC games go...well...umm....Doom, Half-Life....yeah...very nice. I think we'll see more games that are on PC coming to consoles, more exclusively Xbox because it's microshaft. If I'm not mistaken, they can do a bit better with PC games than console games as far as graphics go. I dunno, it'll be interesting to see what happens in gaming this year. If I had the money, I'd go buy a 360, and a block of ice to sit it on. Now THATS liquid cooling!:icon_cycl
