Does the client have to be specifically designed to asupport quicklinks or can this feature be used as it is? Is anyone at all using this to create a web support site such as the mighty sharereactor?

No, it works with any of the clients! Since the Quicklinks use an external program to create the files (sig2dat 3.7.a) (http://www.geocities.com/vlaibb/sig2dat/sig2dat3.7.a.zip) they will create the .dat file in the download folder of whichever FastTrack client you are using.
