Okay, I use various peer2peer software and recently decided to choose satellite technology for downloading, as I can't get cable in my rural area. So anyway, I have found that p2p speeds are awful with it, but HTTP are fine. I can download at between 15KBps and 70KBps via HTTP but only 2KBps via p2p, and yes, it is quicker via 56k modem. So my only answer has to be that they are throttling the p2p ports or whatever. I asked them if they are, but they denied it, but I can't think of any other reason.
It is via VPN and not Proxy. Can anyone give any advice or tips on how to maybe re-route the p2p information to a HTTP server and then back down to me that way ? By this I mean send a signal of what I want to download and then stream it via another server. I have tried registered version of HTTP Tunnel, but obviously this is not what it was meant for, but I gave it a shot anyway, no joy.
I have tried changing ports (tried 50 in total), using port 80, and so on. Still no luck. I have up to 1MBps download speed, so it is so frustrating to get less then a 28k modem :)
I don't mind if you suggest paid software, or shareware, or whatever. Maybe there is no way to do this, but I am no expert, so maybe some of you guys are.
Cheers for any help !
