i want some advice on the best anti-virus apps. Ive read a few articles suggesting that the traditional favorites (norton, mcafee) are ridiculously bloated, and some of the less well known programs are just as good, if not better and use less system resources. Just now im using f-prot and previusly used AVG and before that norton.
my experience of norton seems to bear out the opinion that symantec products waste way too much resources.
Clearly however the most important attribute for any virus scan is how well it catches the little menaces, so what i wanna know is just what is the best virus scan when it comes to snaring viruses?
Also which virus scans are everyone using? and what kind of nasty experiences have people had with viruses?

:shy Krell is right about that it works well. Norton is a hog, but I use it is intigrated with the system works, and the firewall. It wont be as big a pig, if you only set it for your needs. So far it has caught everthing. AVG is ok,except they are slow with updates as I found out the hard way. Like they say when you reformat you have a faster system. Krell I might not worry so much after I get some more experience on comps, but for now a slower machine is better than no machine.
