Opera Browser Question

I’ve been hearing that the Opera browser is a popular computer geek thing. So as a geek want-a-be I got a retail copy (no adds) 6.02. So other than anti-Bill Gates sentiment, faster loading websites for 56k users (I use Cable), pop-up ad stopping ability (I use Pop-up Stopper anyway), and some odd colors on familiar web pages; why is Opera appealing?

Will someone (who has used Opera) please tell me what features\advantages Opera has over Internet Explorer in Windows?

Faster page rendering, greater user configurability, quick preferences w/ F12 (really comes in handy), Opera has a greater tendency to observe W3C standards for html and css (though I'm not entirely clear who's winner that race right now, in the past IE and Netscape have been left far behind), and Opera doesn't start a new instance of itself with each new browser window.

The Gestures are a cool little feature too.

Opera has an MDI interface, and doesn't take up as much RAM as Mozilla.

one thing Ive noticed and the feature that makes me want to kiss opera.... I download at up to 300kb/s off of web sites. Ive got a cable connection sure, but adelphia is lousy in my area and I never saw anything above about half of this speed on ie or netscape. never tried mozilla, I found opera and hung my hat there.

Much better cookie controls and security controls - when you delete Opera info it's gone, not hiding somewhere in gatesland. You can zoom easilly, make All the browser borders disapear for full screen viewing and even flip pages back and forth with sliding mouse gestures (or clicking back buttons like in I.E. too). Better favorites archiving, much better d/l'ing as mentioned and total front of browser graphics control - toggle pictures off and you won't see any ads and pages drop down ultrafast. Hit the toggle once more and they're back on again. No need to open up the menu.

It's a lot of things. More flexible, safer and faster than I.E. or Netscape.

Opera is awsone, and if you get the regisrtation key you wont have to worry about the ad window. If anyone need it let me know.

I learn something new about it, its truly an awesome program. if you like having the freedom to control all your settings you got to get this.

I defiantly see advantages with cookie controls, security controls, and Private Data elimination; even if an occasional image isn’t compatible.

I agree with the others....Mozilla would kick the crap out of opera though. Mozilla looks like netscape (obviously) and so if you hated that interface sorry. But it has some features like Alexa which helps you not get lost on the internet....It's very helpful. Mozilla has my vote.
