I went to there website but could not post there because I don't want to register.I think they might have all the info on me they need. So I have a straight forward question for the good folks at Gnucleus-do you or do you not have spyware in either 1.7.5 or 1.7.7(which is an upgrade forced on you when you install 1.7.5)
Before I go into details I would like to hear there response.I would appreciate it if someone who is a member at Gnucleus.com would bring this post to their attention.
I have all my history saved and by comparison of certain events have discovered something I'm sure would be of interest to anti spyware folks.
Well Gnucleus?Confirm or deny-are you clean or have you sold out?
Silence will be interpreted as a yes.
I have the details already,so don't lie,just explain.

Gnutella is completely open source, you may review the source code yourself. There are no ads and there is no spyware.

I certainly think I'd like to review your 'incriminating' evidence so we may explain it to you.

I'm a normal user, no interest with Gnucleus Creator.. Swabby....
but as far as i know, there is no such spyware in this decent program....
download ad-aware and do some checking..... and download the program from their website

Yeah well it appears it wasn't Gnucleus.I heard back from a few sources and it appears it was piggybacked onto another P2P program I tried around the same time after I realized Gnucleus is more for broadband users who take great offense at those who don't have access to anything but dialup.
The good news is it looks like Adaware will include it in the next reflist. It's called UCmore and you can find out about it at ucmore.com or even better go to [url]http://www.effective-i.com/ Or better yet don't even bother-it's just a bunch of corporate BS that basically says that their spyware isn't spyware, just a legitimate marketing tool.

a) Gnuke has never had spyware. I Ad-Aware nightly, I would know. It never has, never will. Swabby is too cool to us to do that.
b) The update wasn't forced on you. You can cancel it, and turn off the evolver by clicking Edit>Preferences>Local and unchecking the Auto-Evolve Gnucleus option.
c) I used Dial-up for almost a year with Gnucleus. It was by far the best Gnutella client I used with that connection. I also know of others who have used Gnucleus with Dial-up, so to say that it's user base is all about fools who detest Dial-up users is just ignorant and offending to me as a supporter of this client. If you read more of the site, you would know that the developer originally coded Gnucleus with a 56k connection. This feeling towards Dial-up users is prevelant on every p2p network, I have no clue how you stuck the mindset on this one client.
Those who don't make declarative statements are less likely to look back and see themselves the fool.

I didn't say anything like that.Don't attribute your words to me please.
If you read the post above yours you can see that I clearly stated that I had determined that the spyware in question was not from Gnucleus.
Also if you Adaware every night then you know that they considered this important enough to release a new reflist on 5-22-02 to cover the spyware in question ,UCmore.
I never accused Gnucleus of any wrongdoings but I did ask a question.I didn't make a declarative statement because that would not have been right without looking into it.Which I did, found out it wasn't them and said so.I also informed Adaware about a spyware product the had been unaware of and as a result it is now included in Adaware.
Have you ever done anything positive or do you just attempt to attribute your quotes to others ?
quote from Renesis"Those who don't make declarative statements are less likely to look back and see themselves the fool."
It would appear you have some experience with seeing your self the fool,no need for you to add to it.

Weather a program is open source doesnt affect if it has "spyware" or not since "spyware" isnt in the source they are bundled with the program in the Installer..
Also Adaware only detects what it knows its what it doesnt know about which people should concern themselves with.
Renesis not everyone hates modem users.. nukehella isnt exactly wrong it is bad for gnutella and its especially bad for modem users to not be a leaf and connected to ultrapeer and not routing traffic which causes bottlenecks, and eats up a majority of modem users bandwidth which is allready not that great and can be used better elsewheres(downloading/uploading)
So lighten up a little bit.

You are right that Adaware only detects what it knows. So when someone finds spyware on their machine that isn't detected by Adaware they should
1)Notify Adaware so the real experts can look into it.
2)Make an effort to find where it came from
3)Get ready to hear a lot of crap from people who think their favorite program is being attacked ,even though the only way to get answers is to ask questions.

a)My statement about spyware in Gnuke was a general statement, not neccessarily aimed at you.
b)I had issue with you stating that the upgrade was forced, when it isn't.
c)I was just making it clear that the discrimination against 56k users is a network wide thing, not a client specific thing. It is true that not everyone hates 56k users. I don't, being that I was one for quite awhile, and hads to deal with getting my DLs remotely disconnected by users with broadband. I think it as much of a problem as anyone else. I have posted some suggestions on effective Gnucleus use with a 56k on this thread:

Keep the faith.

You didn't say that, I did. Anyone who treats a 56k user like a p2p inferior is a fool.
Your exact words were, "broadband users who take great offense at those who don't have access to anything but dialup." Right after saying you realized Gnucleus is more for them. I'm interested in how you came to this realization.

That was an interesting post and an interesting thread you referred me to.I think the thread covered all the problems I encountered.
I spent so much time getting the spyware issue resolved I have not gone back and given Gnucleus a fair shot.
Life would be a lot simpler if I had broadband access but I can't get a DSL and I can't get cable yet.
So I'll figure something out.
Peace out

I'm glad if my post helped. I spend alot of time helping newbies on one of the #gnutella/chat IRC channels, so I've gotten pretty good at it.
I used 56k for awhile. It can suck, but you'll appreciate the broadband experience more. Also, you'll have learned alot about managing your bandwidth from virtually not having any at one point.
