mels, what did you think of Revolver?

I'm still trying to form an opinion. It's visually quite well done, and some of the dialouge was brilliant. I especially liked Statham's monolouge as he crashed through the car's windshield... or does he?

So, I know it's either brilliant, or fucking retarded.. like David Lynch. You know, when symbolism gets so abstract that it means almost nothing and offers no emotional payoff. David Lynch is the worst. Now I'm pissed because I'm thinking of that asshole (though I will forgive Wild at Heart).

Anyway... Revolver.. do you think Liota and Statham's characters are one and the same? Are the con man and chess master real? Things got kind of abstract toward the end... haven't sorted it all out yet. There's a theme of greed intertwined throughout too...

Like I said... it's either brilliant or retarded.

I very much liked it. When I first saw it though, I had to think about it for awhile. Thats not a bad thing at all. A movie that you must think about is a rare thing these days.

I have flip flopped on what is real in this movie and I guess I'll never know for sure but I'm of the opinion that the two con men were not ever really there. As far as Liota and Statham's characters I don't know either. Thats the beauty of this film. It doesnt draw a diagram for you or follow a formula like most garbage films do.

Most people feel the way you do about it right now. Give it time and it will grow on you. Ive watched it about 5 times. lol
