The purpose here is to help you optimize the settings under which you are running the Azureus Client for BT.

The first step is to run a speedtest (http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=97) in order to determine the maximum upload capacity in kbit/s of your PC.

Next, use the graph included below based on the results oif the speed test you just completed, and set your Azureus settings accordingly.

Enjoy.

Also, for those looking to get more out of Azureus, here's a few more guides to check out:

Looks like I had mine capped right, not sure about max connections, etc; my ISP capped me / generally ruined my connection's P2P abilities :(

That was gud info but I'm already achieving the best speeds. Sometimes the download speeds go upto 120KB/s but the upload speeds stay at 70KB/s max.

Excellent post. I am currently having problems achieiving my maximum download speed after moving to a 8mb/768 connection. I hope that once I go home and try out the settings using this guide it will be improved.

I find torrents are really hit or miss a lot of the time, even if you have all the settings at what they should be.

For newbies:

Remember that some of the settings in Azureus are not anymore existing because in the post of Mr. Soul hes using Azureus 2.x.x version and as of now the new version is Azureus 3.x.x with an option of Azureus UI Chooser to go in VUZE window or the Azureus Classic window

If you choose to seed too many files at once. This will kill you download link.

for those of you that want to check out all the settings for azureus go here: http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/User_Guide

for NAT problems: http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/NAT_problem

and last not least, encryption settings to avoid traffic shaping
I came across to many ppl that had it enabled but didn't set the options correctly which results in very poor up/down speeds
http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/Avoid_traffic_shaping

if you have any questions I'm happy to answer them
