Im not really looking forward in seeing any of those movies apart from the Tarantino/Rodriguez ones.
Tenacious D film could probably be a 3 minute joke stretched out for 1hour 30 mintues.
Young Hannibal will be like the Aliens films: two great first films then a bunch of weak sequels.
I expect Clerks 2 to suffer from sequelitis.
One big film looks slightly interesting:
Superman Returns - although i was never a fan of the Superman comics i did enjoy the films. Now that being said, i dont see what more you could do with another Superman movie unless Bryan Singer goes down the Batman Begins route.

What about Steven Spielbergs: München ?
From what little I've heard about this film, it sounds like Stevie Boi may actually have a good film to present. Lately, to me, it seems he's been in a bit of a slump. I will keep an eye out for this one as well
I never could stay tuned into Underworld long enough to care about a sequel
Ive heard bad things about X-men 3. I think we are in for a let down this go around. Brett Ratner replacing Brian Singer as director is a fucking crime.
Superman Returns
Directed by
Bryan Singer
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348150/
Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

I was listening to a film critic who saw Speilberg's München and said it was unlike any film he's made before, its a very dark and powerful film. The only criticism about the film he had was that like King Kong the film is a bit long at 3 hours.
I recently acquired Chan Wook Park's Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, the final part in his vengeance trilogy (the previous 2 films in the trilogy were: Sympathy for Mr Vengeance & Oldboy). I cannot wait to watch this!

I got Oldboy awhile back, I havent finished watching it yet, very long and weird, but good.
The worst thing about King Kong was those huge CGI King Kong Balls flapping around. or was that just my imagination?

nope i think horror movies are tat
just my opinion though
gothy films always tend to be a bit shit though
look at.. the crow. Interview with the Vampire. or just about any film with trenchcoats in (except the first matrix film).
now i like long hair and leather as mush as anyone but ppl seem to forget that u need more than Guns+trenchcoat+moody to make a good film (equilibrium being a perfect example)
anyway </rant>

I tend to look forward to movies that are more cultish than blockbusterish. I have low hopes for Clerks 2 also. Kevin Smith has some cool movies but Im starting to think he's out of ideas. I wish he wouldn't have turned Silent Bob into Jays silly bitch either. In Clerks, Bob was just the cool guy kicking it in the back ground, putting up with all of Jay's retarded antics. Now they are both tards, but I still love em.

Awesome choices, want to see the Ringer super bad, friend has CAM copy, but terrible quality, probably just go see at theater.....wolf creek wasn't bad, wasn't great either, pretty slow flic Id wait till DVD if I were u, and Hostel (tarantino produced right?) looks good also...........
tough finding good movies these days, and its funny because the MPIAA cant figure out why ticket sales are declining. It cause most of the shit is exactly that, shit, and they want you to waste 10 bucks and 2 hours of your time with no questions asked.
Last good movie I saw was probably Broken Flowers with Bill Murray, good dialogue, plot, and cinematography (remined me a little bit of Lost in Translation). Otherwise, man, nothing but shit. They seem to frequently forget that your there for the STORY, the PLOT, not the special effects or lead actors or actresses. You want to see a story of substance and style that both entertains as well as enligthens.
Theres nothing cooler than a flic that leaves you wanting more, or that makes you see the world just a little differently. Two words: SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION!!!! Only movie Ive seen more than twice, in fact have seen probably more than a dozen times thx to TNT and could easily watch again and again. God I love that movie.
Note to self: thread idea, greatest movie of all time.

I dont know about cultish, but definitely agree as at least can count on the fact that the story, why your there in the first place, is most important, and not a showpiece for some A-list star or chance for the studios to unload a bunch of pyrotechnics.........Broken Flowers for instance, good flic, not mainstream.

Brian DePalma can easily swing from making films that are very good or very crap, so i dont know what to expect from this new one.
His last film Femme Fatale was mostly good apart from some Dallas esk plot lapses.

Grind House has got pushed back to 2007, bummer. Rumor of the moment: In QT's half of the movie he will be playing the part of a rapists in a minor role. The rumor is that this could be a pre "Dusk Till Dawn" appearance of Ritchie Geko. That would be cool as fuck if true but so far, QT or RR aint talking.
But Clerks 2 will be out soon and the word is its actually good and very funny. I don't know if any of you kept up with Kevin Smiths web blog while he was making C2 but it was pretty cool. He had a segment where he screened it for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez at Kevins house and they both seemed to like it. Boy would I like to have been able to hang out with those guys.
