TIFTON, Ga. - Trained wasps could someday replace dogs for sniffing out drugs, bombs and bodies. No kidding.
Scientists say a species of non-stinging wasps can be trained in only five minutes and are just as sensitive to odors as man's best friend, which can require up to six months of training at a cost of about $15,000 per dog.
With the use of a handheld device that contains the wasps but allows them to do their work, researchers have been able to use the insects to detect target odors such as a toxin that grows on corn and peanuts, and a chemical used in certain explosives.

This is bad news as far as I am concerned. I am in favor of ending prohibition when it comes to drugs; all drugs. I am in favor of legalizing all drugs immediately and releasing the millions incarcerated because of the substances they choose to put into their bodies. The war on drugs is a war on people, and in addition to being grossly immoral, is not winnable.
Advances like this will give more power to the police, prosecutors, & politicians who are in favor of waging the drug war, and will give them an excuse to continue waging this war just a little bit longer in their quest for creating a "drug free" society.
All in all, bad news for those who love liberty.

The state of high schools today is pathetic. Its rare to find a kid who doesnt do drugs. As for druggies bitching about laws you can spot them a mile away. Something about being stoned 24 hours a day, it seems to have a tendency of giving idiots the idea they are smart.

Still the point is (or my point is, rather) the people smoking pot arent hurting anyone, maybe themselves in the long term, maybe not. Its costing us millions of dollars to lock these poeple up. I smoked a lot of pot in my day and all it did was make me watch a whole lot of movies and eat a bunch of junk food. I lost 20 pounds when I stopped smoking. I see nothing wrong with stoners, they tend to be good, passive people and they tend to keep a job so they can buy more pot.
I never drank much, I hate it, pot was jsut a way to have a bit of fun. Nothing more.

If we did allow drug use, we wouldnt need lawyers as much as a drug task force and the commercials and the tax we pay for the bulletin board to be aware of it. . Yet i dont want needles to be close to my kid and people going around injecting others with drugs to create an addiction.. Its like when you go to vegas to gamble.. they serve free alcohol to get people to gamble and spend money.. Makeing the world a casino can be a bad thing.

The other problem is if you legalise marijuana gangs will start pushing stronger and more adictive drugs. To say that stronger and more adictive drugs should be legalised would also not make so much sense as instead of paying for there prison stay you are paying their dissability, hospital and or welfare every year. So since we cant really legalise it for that reason all stoners are simply helping fund gang violence and such. Also most of prostitution and thefts, at least in my neck of the woods are motivated by a drug dependance.

I don't do drugs. I don't want to do drugs. I don't like drugs. But I know that the drug Prohibition is a big reason for the problems that we have with drugs today. The drug laws in place have terrible effect on our society. Drugs MUST be legalized and controlled by goverment agencies. They must be sold by licensed stores and not sold to minors, similar to how alcohol but with people required to show id and sign a form each time they buy some.

No, and we all know you're lying about not doing drugs. Or not wanting to do drugs anyways... perhaps you can't find your drug of choice and want them all legalised so that you can easily pick your poison?

Well I duno about where you live but theres a few smaller gangs around here that have been shoving crack up peoples noses and similar things to get them hooked. The larger gangs are also lacing their marijuana with stronger drugs getting them also hooked on those both the asian gangs and hells angels are bad for that. You may not think its a reality in your parts but it is here.

you must be out in cali right, mountain_rage?
Pushers lacing marijuana is something of an urban myth, it is simply too expensive to "dust" the pot with a quantity of (coke, heroin, pcp, amphethamine, etc) illegal powder large enough to cause addiction. I'm not saying it doesn't happen on an individual level but, as a matter of street gang policy, the monetary outlay would be way too large to make it feasible.
And crack doesn't go in your nose. it goes in a glass pipe, usually one specifically designed for the smoking of that shit.
