I'm nearing having my eyes fall out if I try anything else that doesn't work. I have Azureus and have been trying to resolve NAT errors for the past week. I've forwarded port 50128 on both my router and my firewall, but still get speeds of around 280 b/s. (Yes, BITS).
This is one I'm downloading:
Seeds: 8(1249)
Peers: 1(1554)
Download: 9 b/s.
Occassionally I get up to 10 kb/s, but not often.
Here are my specs:
XP Firewall (Port 50128 allowed)
Rogers Cable Internet
D Link L514 wireless router
When I try NAT/Firewall test, I always get returned "NAT error."
Any suggestions?

Thank you, but I've tried that tutorial 3 times and I still get the NAT error. The port will not open.

do you have port 50128 forwarded to the IP addy assigned to your computer?

Yes. I've set up a static IP and now have that port forwarded to my computer through my router. I've also opened the port in my firewall. I don't run any type of anti-virus. But when I run NAT/Firewall test on that port, it always returns "NAT Error." I'm also checking it on grc.com and it's telling me that there's an unknown protocol for this port and that it's closed.
When I run those tests though, it gives me a totally different ip address. That the external one, right? Versus the 192.168.0... I set as my internal. Should I be forwarding to my internal ip or my external?

Your internal IP, for sure. I know I made the mistake of not forwarding to my machien when I first set up azureus, was hoping I had the magic solution!
found this (http://www.seifried.org/security/ports/50000/50128.html) while doing a search for port 50128. you may want to try a different port as, apparently, windows messenger (turn it off!) and rpc services make use of it.

I think I've narrowed it down to one of two problems. Either, a) my ISP (rogers) is blocking downloading (and I've read about many other people having problems with them right now). But this still doesn't explain why those websites are telling me that the port is closed.
I do have a VOIP phone, where the configuration is cable modem to voip router to wireless router. Would this cause a problem? If so, is there anyway I can get around it? Would a switch work where the wireless router wouldn't have to be filtered through the VOIP router? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is probably your problem. Or at least one of them. The VoIP router likely does NAT as well. Check out http://portforward.com/ for details on how to set this up. You have a multiple router configuration. The usual way is that Router #1 (VoIP) forwards to router #2's address and port. Router #2 then forwards to your computer's port. This is one way to set it up. What VoIP router do you have? Linksys?
The way you have it now, your inner wireless router may be forwarding but the packets aren't even getting there because of the VoIP router. As if this isn't enough, find out what modem you have and check to make sure it isn't acting as yet another router doing NAT. Some do.

I have a D-Link for VOIP, and a D-Link for wireless as well. I think I'm just going to get a switch tomorrow and see how that works as they're only $20. I'll update with results. But thanks for the results. At least I know I'm not crazy now.

its dhcp conflict right? you would need to assign the voip router an address on the local network and not set it up for NAT and such. A friend of mine had the same problem... we fixed it by exchanging the voip router for a phone adapter.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I FINALLY fixed my problem and no long get NAT errors. I got the switch, and then realized that it was really complicated to hook it up to VOIP. So now I'm stuck with a switch. Good thing it only cost $15.
Anyway, so I had to reconfigure my Dlink Wireless router so that it would work directly behind my cable modem. After that, I hooked up my VOIP behind the modem. I know there are problems with that as well, but I'm going to keep my connections limited so as not to crash it.
The problem was that even after I forwarded the port on the VOIP router, the port was still in stealth. Now it's open, thankfully, and Azureus is giving me an OK on the NAT test.
Thanks for all the suggestions!

Hi there,
I've had the same problem. I'm a newb to the Torrent game and am far from a computer genius!
I've set the open port on Azureus to 65535 and have done so on my firewalls for the 1394 Connection/Local Area Connection and Wireless Network Connection (both TCP and UDP). Am not sure if this is setup right?
I have got up to around 40kb but the average is the low 20's. Is this a regular speed for others?
Seeds 46 (21)
Peers 33 (16)
25 kB/s
My "UDP mapping" indicator on the bottom of Azureus is ALWAYS on yellow and the red indicator next to it showing that I may have a Nat problem is, again, ALWAYS on.
I've read about port forwarding etc but the only problem I have is that I am on a wireless connection in the flat ... picking up the connection from a Cafe a 100ft up the road. So I have no idea how to find out what their router IP etc. Being a newb and all. haha.
If anyone can be bothered to spare the time to try talk me through my setup problems it'd be greatly appreciated.
*edit* PM me.
Cheers
