:shoot I have DSL and I just downloaded the new winmx 3.1. When I try to connect to the Winmx peer Network it does not connect. I did check to see if I was connected to the internet and I am. I don't even get an error code nonthing happens. I had Winmx 2.6 and I didn't have any problems connecting. I also uninstall 3.1 and install 2.6 back on, I still couldn't connect so I uninstall 2.6 then install 3.1 again and it still didn't connect. I tried the secondary and primary network. Is there something I'm doing wrong to setting this up since I have DSL? Please tell me the configuration on how to set Winmx 3.1 since I have DSL.:devil

I've got DSL and had no problems with either version of WinMX. It can, howeevr, sometimes take a while to connect. How long are you giving it? Or is it a blatant no-go?

I had v3.1 and couldn't get it to do anything. Searched Bob Dylan and got one hit and this a song by Phish. I have GoBack and reverted my hard drive back to a place where I had V2.6 and then tried Bob Dylan again, got 1139 hits. Don't know what, but V3.1 has serious problems. I would suggest that if you have GoBack you revert back to a point that you had V2.6. If you don't have GoBack then restore your registry immediately! To do this: reboot your computer, press and hold the CTRL key during your computer's power-on self test, and choose the Command Prompt Only option at the Windows Start up menu [{your mouse will be useless, use your arrow keys and hit the enter button to select an option]. At the prompt type in "Scanreg /restore" without the quotes. A list of backup files will appear along with their dates. Choose a date before you installed V3.1 and hit enter. This will restore your registry settings prior to the installation of V3.1 and V2.6 should work as it did before. Windows backs-up your registry at the first boot-up of the day and saves the last four days settings so don't delay. Methinks that when you installed V3.1 it changed your registry settings and the uninstall/reinstall procedure did not correct the problem. Good luck.

Roamerick...I got the green light within seconds then did my search. Got no Hits. This is an upgrade, there should be no networks to build. I beleive that there is a flaw in the program and choose to use V2.6 until I can convince myself to try a newer version.

The reason is this (and this info is not hard to come by if only you bothered to look):
WinMX 3.1 is a NEW NETWORK. It's not backward-compatible to 2.6. Comprende? What you're looking at is in fact a three-day old network. Still surprised at your lack of searches?
Stick with it, man! Lots of people are switching over and it's picking up momentum. If you encourage everyone to remain in their 2.6 ghetto, it's not really going to do the WinMX network any good at all.
Keep running WinMX 3.1 to boost the network and run something like XoloX for your desperately needed stuff. Or is that too outrightly altruistic?
