Some of you that visit the rest of the site will notice that i have changed some things up.

News Articles

- News stories can now be rated inside of article

- Score comment in place inside of article comments
this can help hurt your reputation

Homepage

- The highest rated news article for the week will remain on top of the other stories on the homepage

- If a article receives a higher rating, the current article will be replaced

- Rated article will not be repeated in homepage articles

That doesn't sound good. :| but the rest of it is great :)

Unless the reputation of which you are speaking is unrelated to the reputation on the forums.

Aw... come on. The whole site isn't dead. The forums are cunvulsing just fine.

The news over the past couple years has been nothing but crap though. Whatever happened to 257 crappy new file sharing apps per week?

P2P needs an epinepherine injection.

I prefer to read the news as it's posted. Meaning, I can easily see what's new over what I've already read b/c it's at the top.

I don't understand the negativity. What is it you don't like about the news comments. As an old timer your words should hold more weight than that of a n00b to the forum. I seem to remember the news comments being laid out very much like forum comments at one time. I also remember some security vulnerabilities within the old layout involving an undefined name tag attribute...as I think back on it the Xolox big news announcement by Matt is a good example of the news comments in their heyday and to be more accurate the news comments resembled the layout of the original kazaa forums as they were simple and direct resembling very much the php based phorum 2.08~2.13(or2.18?) phorum software.

What was better about it that you don't like now? Or what other possibility could there be for making it exciting again?

since they changed everything the front page just looks a mess the news is just a loss in between all the ads and other pointless crap (sony ericsson phone reveiws?) just looks like another ad to me.

I used adblock and r.i.p on the front page but if you remove all the crap their isnt much of a front page left thats why I just have the forums bookmarked now.

I would, sadly, agree.

The news articles are lagging well behind those at slyck.

Make me a news mod and the news will be so fucking shit hot you would need oven gloves to visit the page. Seriously, I know what the punters love and ill give you news articles like you never imagined in your wildest fantasies.

Back when the news comments were simple to view and post this site used to thrive.... I used to visit it everyday just to read and comment on the news, not just posting in the forums.

The "most popular news stories" thing can be on the side of the webpage where it used to be. There is no need for big yellow scoreboxes at the center to mark the "score" of a news story. And news should be sorted by date, not by ratings.....

i just read the stuff when it comes out on slyck or theregister or wherever

the news comment system was irrelevant since the grabowski and "first post" days, but at least it was quick and fun when it was semianonymous. once you had to sign in, why bother with it? use the forums

why do you need a forum and a news section? especially if they are just the same thing anyway? the relinking to the redundant front page story is especially infuriating, because the forum posts then lack a proper source

zeropaid's news reputation died long ago, and it isn't going to come back

I rarely read the news section here, mainly because usually Ive already read it somewhere else. I hardly bother to even look at the section at all, straight to the forums I go.

The new system is not funky fresh, its whack, word.

If you want news for p2p or any other subject u can easily obtain that via rss feeds or via google news.
I mean u can put news here but we post it in the forums lounge section, lmfao well i do
lets get real if u want news to appear here u post it yourself in real time.

the other news section is dead.

and now i will talk to myself some more :)

Same shit, babe.

Anyway. I haven't even looked at the front page since.... meh.... uh... yeah. Maybe about the time I joined up. Unless it makes it into the forums, it's about laws affecting P2P, or technology within the same repects, a new program or network... I just ignore it.

In the past i was submitting news, some made it, some never loooked at, some took 2 days to make it in. So i read the news on slyck and when it comes here its usually a day or more behind and already been looked at. Forums are great, maybe we need just a filesharing forum.. And all the news are submited in to the forums rather then a front page.

Here's a quick suggestion...why not specify a forum just for news and code it in such a way so that any new posts to that forum automatically show up on the front page? Mods could delete spam and ban abusers..this way it would be fresh and fast.

The rating system for news is shit, stories need to be arranged by date because when you bust out a hot headline it is buried beneath a bunch of old news because its rated lower.

It takes away from the news not adds to it..

The Grokster story should be at the top not at the bottom, there is no news site designed like this (stories listed by ratings) as it draws attention away from new news and only focuses on the old news...the new news is buried under old shit.

The format makes no sense, who wants to comment on news if they can't even find breaking stories at the top.

All it does is make it look like we don't post anything new on the front page

On a unrelated matter, why is my rep in the news comments listed as so
Reputation Power: 5
Reputation is 39

When in the rest of the forum it reads
Reputation Power: 14
Reputation is 10

the 14/10 is the inccorect one as it has not changed even though I have gotten more.

Wtf

Also when I publish and the thread link makes it to recent posts when I click on it says invalid tread specified
This has not worked in a while...only when you post news or XTC does that link actually work.

For some reason the site - especially the news section is not working.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The first news article is OK BUT subscequent ones have the article followed by the title.

Am I the only one that notices this?
