we have lone star park in grand prairie.. ITs exciting to go and bet.. You have to bet alot to win.. and possibly choose 1,2,3,4 places in the order or top 4 horses without being in order to win big.

Always bet on a boxed quinella (in the south US they call that an "exacta box"). You pick the horses/dogs that will finish first or second, in any order.
For example: I wanna box horses 3 & 4 for a $2 bet. I win if 3 comes in first and 4 comes in second, or 4 comes in first and 3 comes in second. If 3 wins and 1 comes in second, you don't win anything. For grins, add a SHOW bet on the favored pony.
ALWAYS check the form to see if the horse is coming up in class or going down. Bet the down horse. Also, you will have good luck betting on the jockey with the best record. In thorobred racing, that counts for alot. In harness, not too much...and it's obviously not applicable for the dogs (unless you're in Wisconsin!).
Be prepared to lose a lot before you win big......

you see the top contender for the horse race is a sure bet so it must pay out alot less am i right because its going to be the first favorite of everyone?
2nd down the line and 3rd would pay less, but these 3 are a sure shot, so I reckon that i would have to triple it out or something?
all seems fun i will try it
thanks

never bet on the horse with three legs.

You won't make much $$ betting on the favorite every time. Those are 3-5 or 2-1 at best. The "combo" bets will always pay off more if you hit. Perfectas, exactas, trifectas will pay 20-1 to 30-1, but obviously they will be harder to hit. Still, it's a $2 min bet, so in the long run, you have a better chance to win bigger bucks.
Watch the board from 15 minutes up until post time.....usually, the best payoffs will be when you see the odds go from like 15-1, 25-1 down to 7-5 or something...real fast. That's a sign: the seasoned bettors will wait until the last possible minute to place their best so as not to tip off the odds. NEVER place a bet more than 5 minutes before post time. ALWAYS looks at the odds right after the previous race, and follow those that go down fast.

I should hope you have seen at least one race Krell. The opening of Emerald Downs was the closing of Yakima Meadows.
Not that I actually care, but hey.... bitching is great, isn't it?
