About 10 songs in my library refused to be deleted. They said they were in use elsewhere. I checked the logical things and I couldn't figure out why it said that. OUt of fear I just uninstalled Limewire. Will people stilll be able to access and upload those songs even though I uninstalled Limewire?
Thanks

No one will be able to touch the songs as long as you are not sharing them on a network like Limewire.
Im sure youve tried to delete them since shutting down Limewire so maybe try and make sure that a media player doesnt have them in use.

restart and u should have no probs
if in doubt get a file shredder
or if ure really stuck there is a free utility called "move on boot" which can erase anything at all

Your songs are probably located under my documents. In windows xp that would be c:\Documents and settings\ [your user name]\Downloads or \my documents\downloads I cant quite remember where they are located. If you really are having trouble finding them you can use windows search function situated in your start menue. Just search *.mp3* or *.wma* or whatever format you downloaded.

you know this might sound dumb but i don't know what my username was. i didn't even know i had one.
so even though 10 of my songs were "in use" when i uninstalled limewire, no one can touch them now? (sorry but im soo worried)

Read this very carefully and believe what I say, if you are not running a P2P program you are not sharing anything that is on your computer. If people could freely access your computer and get what ever information they wanted, those songs would be the least of your worries.
Further more, the RIAA doesnt go after people sharing a few songs anyways. If you were sharing a thousand or more it would be more worrisome. Your small potatoes. Now go to sleep and stop being silly.

thanks so much mels_smileys45. i really do appreciate it.
i do have one more question though. this is totally different.
after i uninstalled limewire there was still a shortcut installed. So i clicked on it and it opened up limewire again! even after i uninstalled it! i just exited it and it disappeared. but isn't that weird? i uninstall limewire yet the shortcut still brings up the program on my screen.
