Expires: Unknown Expiration
Description: Comcast has a deal on cable internet service where you get the following:
6 months at $19.99

The best part? NO CONTRACT. If you decide you don't like it, cool, cancel. Yes, this means you can get the 6 months for $19.99 and your free stuff, then leave.
(I don't see where it says no contract on the first page, but when I put in my phone number and everything, it stated so on the "searching..." page.)

If they let you keep the router and modem even if you cancel, that's a hell of a deal! I paid $60 for my modem.

note how they dont mention how wireless modem's work like shit in most suburban homes, and note how they failto mention the IRQL bullshit ethernet might do to ya, cause your comp to only be able to run in safe mode w/ networking (after going into safe mode after retrying after multiple blue death screens) to disable to a certain device and blah blah.

Wow we never caught on to that deception! THX
Maybe they just assume that most people dont have your shitty setup?
yah, I think thats it.
At any rate, thats the CUSTOMERS responsability, not theirs.

Theyre ALL bad . . not just Comcast, and trust me, no ones more pissed at Comcast right now than I am
I switched to Earthlink, which uses Comcast infrastructure etc, just does the reselling.
I pay 19.95 and make Comcast do all the work
fuckers
I should call them every day too, and tell them AIM doesnt work, or some bullshit just to aggrevate them

But hey! This is a great deal even if you already have comcast and your promotional package is about to end. Just call customer service and tell them "ya im going with verizon or another ISP in your area" then they'll offer you a better deal. Then say well let me think about it some, call back a little while later after you sign up for this offer save all your specifics and say "well i thought about it and this is what i did". Then watch them wiggle around a bit until they say BSBSBS if you have to speak to a manager and explain all the trouble and hassle you just went through. Eventually they'll cave in and accept the offer propably****You can do 2 back to back promos in a year! Im on my second one now:icon_sant So provided everything works ok you already have a cable modem so SELL whichever unit you want on ebay and also the router unless you need it. I checked EBAY last night after reading Kells thread and there was only 1 dude offering the DLINK modem!!!!! Make sure you explain in the listing it's brand spanking new and to check with your local ISP to make sure it can be utilized on there network. BINGO now you have $75.00 rebate + say at least $30.00-$40.00 EBAY + say $20 for router and all those free rentals!!!!!! Check this out!!! make sure you tell them you dont need the TV cause you dont watch TV throw on a 3 way splitter and woolau now you have basic TV for free........................muhahahaha I been f&8cking Comcast for a while ITS FUN:icon_rr: When i get done with them i'll shooto over to Verizon and analize them next or whatever ISP looks like an easier target!!!
MATH 75+ 30+20= $125.00 - 19.99x6= $120 ====free internet for 6 months:icon_pira and you make $5.00 GREAT DEAL!!!!!!!

I'm from England, and you get a free modem and connection.
Though, we pay 14.99-17.99 a month for 1mb connection.
24.99 for 2mb
36.99 for 3mb
In Some areas, people in England and Scotland have already had the initial upgrade of 8-10mb (the UK are getting everyone on 10meg by early 2006 for 14.99-17.99). Which will be the same price we're paying now. Yet there will be 10mb+ plans if your willing to pay more. Obviously.

Depending on whether comcast has upgraded there firewalls this used to work! If you have an active cable line give it a try!
These are the steps you have to take to register your cable modem on
the Comcast network using Internet Explorer within M$Win$nore.... This
can be done with ANY browser that allows you to enter these
settings... This means Linux people or some other OS users can
register their new modem on the Comcast network...
1. go to 'Internet Options'
2. goto the 'Connections' tab
3. click on the 'LAN Settings' button
4. Turn on 'Use proxy Server' with the following info
Address: sas.r6.attbi.com Port: 8000
5. Check 'Bypass proxy server' check box
6. Click 'Advanced' button
7. add in 'HTTP: sas.r6.attbi.com port: 8000'
8. Check 'Use the same proxy server'
9. add in the box 'Exceptions: *.r6.attbi.com'
This will allow you to register your cable modem on the Comcast
network manually yourself. BE CAREFUL!!! They DO keep tabs on whether
or not you have more than ONE modem registered!!! They DO shut off
your service when they catch it, so you have to call in and have it
all fixed... SO YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!!!!!!!!!!

My newsgroups download at over 3mb.

It rather much depends, Sorros.
It seems to be the case with DSL subscribers here. Yet, the 'alledged' cap for cable subscribers, isn't technical, ie it doesn't actually stop you downloading, you just get phoned or written to by the ISP if your downloading a great deal.
From what I've leant, the DSl capping issue isn't clear either. I think it's a scare mungering tactic, in the lowest form, ie alot of people naturally keep in their 'alledged' limits, yet on the other hand, if you do pass the cappage limit, you are mearly 'monitored' to see if you are downloading a large amount of MB's.
I do emphisize fully, that it's certainly not clear.
