I have a 56k and connect with a secondary connection.

But on a secondary connection, not all my files show up on a users' browse and additionally, there are filenames listed that I don't own.

If I lie about my connection speed and connect using a Primary connection, all my files show up and in perfect order every time.. but I don't have enough bandwidth to sustain a connection on a primary.

So what's up with the Secondary connection? Why are my files not all showing and why are there ghost files??

Not only is this bad for my bargaining power, but it doesn't allow me to share the files I want to share with my friends in WinMX.

How do you know that some of your files are not showing up when others browse you? ... and how do you know there are "ghost files"? Where does this show up such that you can see it?

What he/she is saying is that When he/she browses him/herself...they get files that they dont have... and the same when others browses him/her

Yes. Thank you for responding.

The ghost files are an unfortunate thing. Especially if a user selects one for download and ends up in queue for a file that is just going to go dead. Also, in as much as some of these "ghost files" are porn titles, I just hope my mother isn't perusing the network looking for me. Yikes!! :angel

What really bothers me MORE than the presence of ghost files, is the fact that not ALL my files display on a browse, or even on a "whois" for that matter. I'm sharing over 4300 titles including some movies, yet when users browse me, and when I browse myself, the count will stop at anywhere between 400 to 3,000. It varies. The problem with this is, it reduces my bargaining power with those "trade only" users who are looking for big movie titles.. Well, I have a few if I could ever get them to show up. I've ticked all file types.

Is this problem inherent of the technology here, or can it be fixed?

Cant be Fixed unless u notify Winmx.com the prob and they fix it...maybe they will come out with a new version with no ghost files....who knows....and i dont want my mother to look in my shared and see porn lol..... Only people with primary connection doesnt get them....so...dunno

It is my understanding that 3,000 files is the maximum number of files allowed on a secondary connection compared to 5,000 on the primary.

I can't believe that anyone would refuse you with that many to offer. I have only about 250 and have no problem with acquiring new videos.

Ok, that explains it.
Didn't know there was a ceiling on the max shared. Thanks.
