View Full Version : Ares Lite Edition connection problems

well ive been had Ares Lite Edition on my computer for a while, and its always been good. but just recently i FINALLY switched to a DSL connection and now its taking atleast an hour for Ares to connect, for me to start searching and downloading songs. can anybody tell me what the problem is or what it might be and what i could do to fix it? it has never taken this long to connect before...and sometimes even when it does connect after an hour and a half of waiting, it losses the connection a few minutes later, and i have to wait a lil while longer again...anybody know why this is happening to my Ares now? is there anything i could do to fix it? like reinstalling or switching to the other Edition rather than the Lite Edition? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I been having the same problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled did not help at all. So I don't know what to do either. Just wanted you to know that someone else is having the same problem.

you should probably make sure you have the latest version from aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net
having the latest version always seems to help me.

There seems to be no set reason for the length of time it takes to connect. I have the latest version, and it can connect in seconds, or a half an hour.

Yes I know that. but it has never taken an hour and a half for me. But sometimes it can take a long time.
My suggestion still stands though. Be sure to download the latest version.

I know, and I have heard of some folks that it takes hours to connect. Its really getting strange.

I fired up Ares after the last post, and it just connected. Not too bad tonight.

I personally think there's something wrong with the current 1.8.6...
Unpredictfully connects, sometimes fast, most of the time taking at least 30-45 minutes.

They really do have to fix it fast, as its not consistent.

no i switched to dsl sbc and ares and gnutella dont work after like 1 week
even reinstalled windows could sbc be filtering? im ganna change ports and see....

dam i dnt think i can change ports.... hmmm i mean its no odd thing seems to be ares ..what bout shareaza or gnutella 1 can u download?

u no what tho off filepipe i can connect.....just wen i download the users goes from 100..99.98.1 queued...

Can anyone help me connecting to Ares? I have the old editiona nd still no connection. I disbaled all firewalls. Can anyone help me?
