Hows this game compared to UT2k4 ... feel wise... I've never liked quake games because the physics just doesnt "feel" right

UT2k4 is a bit more sophisticated in terms of gameplay. It definately involves a little more thinking than Q4. And it also has many more modes than Q4. But Q4 is what I would call completed to perfection

The Unreal engine has evolved into an ammazing thing. Super realistic, great physics and very modular. I cant wait for the next UT either.

I agree :)
UT2007 will kick Q4's ass. But Q3A was the game that started the Deathmatch craze. If Q3A wasn't successful, many games would not be around today.

I believe Q3A was the first one to truely streamline it. It never seemed to be very popular up until Q3A

q3a started the deathmatch craze?
Didn't make any sense to me either. In reality DooM started dm craze and the game that has absolutely best "feel" and gameplay is and probably always will be QuakeWorld mod of original Quake. I played it for 7 years or so and probably still would if I didn't had to start focusing on life/studies etc. :)
Oh and if Q4 has the 60 FPS limit of DooM 3 engine it's not going to be playable for competitive multiplayer.

Christ, I didn't even really like FPS until Unreal 2004 came out.
It was like electronic crack, I would put in the ear phones and load up onslaught and blast people in a raptor.
(I decided upon playing the first time that I excelled in piloting and became a UT Kamikaze)
UT07 makes me want to wet myself and call myself Jill.
The screenshots are amazing!
Quake 4......hmmm might give it a try now

I dont know, I can see how Quake 3 Arena started the DM craze. Doom although a great game, could not have started the DM craze since it was a bitch to play it against some one. You had the modem play, network play, but as far as I remember no internet play to the global level that Quake offered.
And whats up with people wanting ridiculously high FPS....I believe the human eye can not discern diferences at those frame rates as it is.

Damn... I didn't even know it was out. I guess I haven't been paying much attention to PC games lately. Just out of curiosity, is it possible to play online with a not-so-legit copy? I know Q3 and all the games based off of it were easily allowed to play online via a little server hack, but I would imagine they've retooled that aspect.

That's true but on the other hand modem play worked really well. Since it wasn't echoed to the server and back you never noticed any lag, where as Quake with modem was impossible.
And whats up with people wanting ridiculously high FPS....I believe the human eye can not discern diferences at those frame rates as it is.
If you don't feel the difference in gameplay between 60 and say 100 FPS, you're either blind or otherwise have no idea what you're doing. :) In QW the maxfps was forced to 77 which is ok as long as you dont try higher and feel the smoothness. :) Anyways there's absolutely no reason why a modern game should have maxfps any less than 100.
