I dont know if many or any here at zeropaid followed the developement of this fan made game but it held great promise. It was in developement for three years and set to be released in december. That is untill vivendi universal sent them a cease and decist letter. This kind of stuff really pisses me off. This is the second fan made project that would of been harmless to a trademark that was forgot about long ago.
First it fanproject shut down that I was excited about was Chrono resurrection. It was a partial remake of chronotrigger. It would have only remade the big memoral battle scenes. Yet square felt the need to shut it down when it was really far along in developement. http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/
I really wouldnt have a problem with these companies shutting down these games early on but what pisses me off is that they seem to always wait just before the launch to send the cease and decist letters.
This king of coporate bullying is no differnt then what I see in the riaa. They push there money and force people to comply. The team thinks they actually could win in court but they could never afford the cost so they cant fight. Hopefully the team finds a loophole or a way to still release there game but im worried this project is dead. Now if this project dies it spells doom for many other fan games that are in the works by others.
