ok, i'm totally desperate, I was having some problems with kazaalite so I decided to uninstall it, and that's where it all began... I uninstalled it, but instead of uninstaling only the program files, decided to uninstall all files and folders related to kazaalite(using the uninstaller) BUT i forgot to it also deleted the 'myshared folder' folder (yeah I know...) when I realised, it was too late, I've tried recovering the files with norton but it only recovers files that where manually deleted not uninstalled....
Does anybody know of a way of recovering the files that where deleted during the instalation? I really need to recover those files (more that 15GB)....
Any help would be welcome, tnx...

Uninstalling File(s) is the same as deleting in all win versions (if having FAT or FAT32). With Norton Unerase (ver 2000-2002) You should be able to recover them all if U haven't used that partition after uninstalling (created new files that could take up the free clusters)
I use Norton protected Recycle Bin, even Shift/Deleted files goes first there. Not Much help, eh - If You don't have latest Norton SW (to install at another partition...)

Never use the 'My Shared Folder" Create a new folder in C Drive, this way if you ever uninstall again, your folder will stay.

I've used Norton unerase but the files won't come up, the ones that will, are only the ones I've intentionaly deleted with shift+del but not the uninstaled ones...

I've had to uninstall Kazaa before, it has never touched my shared folder. I assumed that it wouldn't by default remove any files it didn't create. Weird.

The programs Lost & Found (discontinued by PowerQuest, grab it from Kazaa) or EasyRecovery Professional from Ontrack (http://www.ontrack.com/easyrecoveryprofessional/) (don't download from Kazaa, that's illegal) should be able to help you out.

I have also used OnTracks ER-Pro and almost allways got back what I've lost. OnTrack is still one of the leading companies at File / Partition recovery situations. Powerquest Utils are others to try out.
It's easy to say good answers afterwards - Now You have already written to Your partition and losed at least part of Your "Blind" files. Yes I was wrong at my first answer ('bout uninstalling and deleting is the same thing). It was so few years ago with old unInstallshield apps and other uninstallers that did use install.log file to iterate all the files and just delete them.
Nowadays Installers uses different technics and some of them even wipe out the files completely and frees the clusters immediately. Lost & Found (2 Diskette Dos-Based version) is a good way to get most back - (Peter) Norton is maybe too proud of his name and columns and takes too much users to buy their products, which aren't as good as many of those (even shareware) competitors.....
