If there was no changes on your system before this happened, perhaps it's time to get a new one. It's not that expensive these days!

Is the driver for your drive loaded properly? Do you have an error inside the device manager? Try powering off your computer, and opening the chasis (if you don't know what ur doing, find someone who does). See if all IDE and power connections are properly in place. Have you added any drives? If so, you probably need to adjust jumpers.
Also, I doubt you need a whole new system just to replace/troubleshoot a single peripheral not working. The solution is usually the most obvious. Remember to have patience, as you will be rewarded for it.
Also, are you using XP? 2K? 9x? please specify.

Before you go routing through cables, two simple questions - whats your music source and what type are these music files?

Windows XP and there MP3 files i download off of Lime Wire and torennt spy.com
couldi be burning on the wrong speed???
Auggie2k
October 4th, 2005, 03:03 PM
Set the burning speed at a lower rate that MAX, about 8X, or 4X.
Are you sure the files play and are accessible?
Are they on a removable hard drive that may be off but the files indexed?
Is the Windows XP Recording enabled in the CD Drive properties?

My computer > X drive properties (where X is your current CD burner) > Recording
What is the error message you get when this happens? If you tell us it might solve this problem!

Seems like one of the tracks is causing the error. Try removing the first track or replacing the entire playlist with some olders ones for instance.

Wait, Nero FAQ's told me this...
8. Why do I get a 'Track following error' message?
The "Track following error" message is a hardware error. It can be caused by the following:
- Poor media - Try more than one brand of CD-R media to rule this out as cause.
- Poor power - The electric power supply of your recorder could be fluctuating. If you have an internal recorder, try a different power connector and make sure it's not being shared by any other devices. If you have an external recorder, remove it from the external chassis, if you can, and connect it on your system as an internal recorder. If this resolves your issue, you need to replace or service the power source in your external chassis.
- Optical head is dirty or needs alignment - Please contact your recorder manufacturer to service your unit.

That makes it seem more of a hardware problem but you said it worked before so I want you to check something for me.
Is the burning method selected as "disc as once" or "track as once"?

Change the setting to "track as once" and try again. Also try a different make of CD-R if available.

Auggie, do you think it may be a good idea to check the # of processes running, to see if that could be causing the problem?
Auggie2k
October 4th, 2005, 04:07 PM
Disable the CD text yes and yeah your right there Hunter.
RoyceDa59 - Do me a favour, restart your computer and try this again with the settings I suggested and no other programs open.
PS: Try make sure your CPU time is overloaded before you start the process and keep your rip speed at an average value.

That had me thinking too Hunter but he assures me he's tried manydifferent compolations. Maybe a different program, a more simple (with the settings) is in order.
