View Full Version : DC++ Problem: Can't delete newly downloaded file

Hello,

I've got an interesting problem, which is quite annoying in the long run too. Simply put, once I download a file with DC++, I cannot physically delete the file nor move it to another directory. However, I can use the file in it's present location, i.e. the default download destination folder. Windows XP simply complains that some other program is still using the file if I try to move or delete the file.

Rebooting does not help. Shutting down DC++ does not help either. The only thing that removes that interesting file-deletion ban is downloading another file with DC++. Then I can delete the initial file, but not the file that I just downloaded.

Needless to say this is a little frustrating in the long run, as I always have to download a new file to get rid of the old one. So does anybody have any idea what on earth (or my pc) could be causing this odd behaviour?

My sincere thanks in advance,
Kaerwek

It is Windows OS bug. Try deleting/moving the file(s) in Windows's Safe Mode or use a utility like MoveOnBoot.

If the problem stems from the file being locked then maybe I can give you a good suggestion. You will know that is the problem if you get a message that states it can't be deleted or something like that because it's in use or whatever reason. I use a program called Unlocker which works very well and unlocks all files I have tried thus far. The program is freeware so there are no costs or registration required and the program is fully functional. You can find this program at: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
