I've used Ares for a while now and it has usually not given me any problems. I've ran into the problem when it will not connect, however, but I just download the latest and it will usually connect again.
But I just come to college, and it has been working fine for about 4 weeks. It has stopped connecting to the network this week though. I've attempt to downloaded i think the latest ares update, but always get the "page can not be displayed" for the Aresgalaxy.org website. Is their website down or is the network down? Or should I investigate possible firewalls getting in the way? (they havent given me a problem before though)
