I used winmx for years, Now i cant connect, WHY?

Hi, ive been using winmx latest version on broadband. But recently, on a primary connection it began to wane, no downloads, no uploads. I switched to a secondary connection, just as crap. Now i cant even get connected. I used to be able accept tcp packets and all the rest on the default ports. Ive reinstalled winmx 3,32 and im told i need a poxy server (never did before). Im running on XP, P4, I have no viruses or spyware or malware as ive all the latest.

I noticed winmx begining to hang, and be VERY slow when browsing etc

The only thing ive done is to run a command to a sfc command to check for dodgy or missing .dll's

Now I cant even connect on a dsl connection. I used to be able to recieve all tcp packets etc on winmx defaults, now its dead.

Please HELP. THIS IS REALLY BAKING MY NOODLE.

Winmx currently from what ive heard has shutdown uppon fear of being sued by the recording industrie association of america. Although the other theory is that version 4 is coming out right away. The first is probably the truth. My sujestion is go look at zeropaids program section.

I sujest shareaza, limewire, bittorent or newsgroups. Newsgroups are the best if you have access and are fairly good and understanding programs.

Thanks for the replies, still dosn't explain how or why a mate of mine is still using winmx (same version),Ok what program is rated te best, without spyware, malware etc. Or even better, hoe do i fix winmx do work!

Just create some script to paste in that we can all use for those who cant bother to search the forums and read the 37 Winmx threads we currently have going.

If your your hellbound and determined to finish your shitty downloads, you can use the open nap servers, and search the forums on how to do that, or go to Guides section, and do not beg for help.

Im not all that familliar with winmx but shareaza has no malware,spyware, adware. It supports gnutella1,gnutella2, torrents, edonkey, etc... So I would try that. If you can get good speeds then thats a good one. Also if your isp offers newgroup access there website should say or you could contact them, go into newsgroups. Use either newbin, grabit or agent news reader.

(just out of curiousity should I be helping out here by giving them the advice or do you mods want me to just point them to the right places)

There are a number of guides here, at Slyck etc, that explain how to get and configure open nap servers, I suggest you point them in that direction, unless youre willing to walk them thru it on a case by case basis.
