Trouble getting seeders/peers..help please

Alright guys, I recently moved to school, and since I've been here, I've had trouble getting seeders and peers on my downloads. At home I had no problem getting seeders, and I was on high speed wireless broadband. Here I am on high speed ethernet, and I have a hard time getting seeders. Most of the time it just sits there idle, with 0 seeders, but if I do get any, its no more than 5 at a time. The files have lots of seeders according to the websites, so its not that. Do I have to change anything in my system prefs or anything? BTW I am running the BitTorrent download engine on Mac OS X 10.3.9 on an iBook G4. Thanks for reading.

Most universities have effectively blocked most p2p traffic. Is anyone else in your dorm able to download?

I'm not sure, I'll have to check. I can still download stuff off of programs like LimeWire and Poisoned, and I can still download off BT (I just downloaded the Season Finale of Starved), but if it's because of something the University did, I suppose there isn't much I can do about that. Just use the same ports as limewire, if limewire works.
