Im trying to figure out how to go about hooking gamecube or xbox or the like to my pc monitor. I did some looking around and Im wondering if something like this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=882297&Sku=P67-1104 would be able to do the job. I figure someone here must have tried this in the past and could help me out. Any help would be useful. I just want to hook the display up to my monitor or get it to display on my monitor in someway and to hook the audio up to my Z-5500 speakers via the speakers console thing.

Youre close, but no donuts yet.
Which video card do you have in your PC?

On the whole it probably doesnt matter even a smidgen, but some video cards can be used to accomplish what he wants to do AND, it doesnt hurt to consider any possibity for incompatities.
As long as the X-box has been out, and as simple as it is to do what he wants with some nominal electronic assembly, the quesion is not IF it can be done, but at what price, quality, convenience and capacity.

I think what Krell is trying to suggest is a periphial that would allow the moniter to used for both the pc and the game system, otherwise you might be looking at cable switching to go back and forth.

So with that TV 100 thing would I be able to hook up an xbox or gamecube or possibly even an N64 or SNES? Im just curious as I have several consoles and wouldnt mind them in my room I just lack a tv. I dont care if I have to switch cables and stuff thats not a problem I can do that. Also will I be able to use my surround sound pc speakers with it. And what about HD with that TV100 thing will it do the 1080i or whatever it is with the xbox. On a final note thanks for all the help so far guys :-) this is why I love this place.

You could probably find an adapter for the sound output at radio shack. Just something that goes from RCA to the headphone style (if that is what your pc uses), if your speakers are USB, you may want a video card that has external video/audio capture, and just use that function to play your box over your pc outputs.
Or... you could go to about any game store and get the little xbox sound system.

I dont know what you consider exceedingly expensive, but for around $100usd, you can get a multimedia switch that pretty much converts and hooks up anything, its like the home theatre version of a KVM switch

Alright Im still a bit unclear about what exactly I should get to allow me to run the different consoles or just one or two over the pc monitor using my Z-5500's for sound. Whats my best plan of attack?

The best option is either A: a video card with RCA inputs for video capture, or B: a peripheal which has audio/video inputs to plug into your pc. Pretty much looking at streaming the outputs through the pc to utilize the audio/video peripheals.
Either way, you are going to have to spend... meh.... over 50 bucks for both video and sound both.
