Looks like someone's come up with a gadget that lets you play downloaded ROMs on your Nintendo DS, bypassing the copy-protection. You plug an SD card in with your ROM, and off you go. Classic case of a legal device being sold for what can only be an illegal purpoise, but if it's your bag, you can grab it for $79.99 (I have no idea where from though). This isnt illegal because you can use it to play homebrew games on (which are 100% legal). Only the roms themselves are illegal, if you dont own the physical cartridge.

Fair enough, I hadn't even considered the possibility of homebrew games, as I thought the DS was a closed platform. I stand corrected.

That adaptor will probably run a snes emulator if you used it with a flash cart.
The rival to that card is called the M3 adaptor. It uses cheaper SD or Cf memory cards and supposidly Directly run FC, NES, SNES, GB, GBC , SMS, and other roms without any emulators. It also plays movies, view ebooks, plays music & includes a NDS PassKey which allows playback of comercial NDS roms.
It costs about $90 but you will have to buy your own SD or CF memory card for it.
This link has some more info on it and some pictures.

The only downside of this device is that it sticks out of the DS.
