View Full Version : What is zeropaid?

This question was originally asked on another site and got some very interesting answers so I thought I'd ask it here as well. Do you remember why you started posting here?
I sure do. It was around 2002 and I was seeking refuge from the newly closed Kazaa forums. This place had been linked to by few people there citing posts made by Niklas Zennstrom and the other kazaa founder Edwin(?) Metselaar(?).
At the time zeropaid was so different from what it is now running the fledgling vbulletin software I assume. The only thing I noted different about this board and the kazaa forums was that this one let you have cool images in your threads with graphical representations of your online self (avatars) whereas the phorum software kazaa was using at the time (version 3.13) could not.
Zeropaid was relatively foreign and surreal to me then and has maintained some magic and mystery still being a place I can't quite explain so how did you get "here" as if here was some tangible place?

Winmx changed version numbers, and the old servers wouldnt connect.
I searched for info and found this place, and Caitlyn Marble, and stayed.

Hmmmm, now that I think about it, I believe there was a zeropiad chatroom on winmx. I can't remember if thats how I heard of it or not.

As I remember it, my cable modem was hooked up and Morpheus had just left fasttrack. I needed something else to download with, found ZP and found all the programs and reviews and information I could want.
(but I'm getting old, so that may not be the way it happened. It could have been and interesting tale involving Superwoman and Batgirl, a car battery and some chocolate syrup, but like I said, I'm getting old and the memory is fading.)

i remember right after kazaa forums shut down, those basterds.
well i had been using our beloved audiogalaxy *yes with the spyware i didnt care* as well, using winmx, scour exchange etc and came to zeropaid.
i remember some people from the days of napster as well showing up here so long ago.
how i got here was weird.
i remember going to a different site as well slyway or something if i could remember, back then their was some portals, i remember.
it happened because i read something on cnet i believe about zp was hosting fake porn and they had that thingie wat the hell did they call it, hmm let me remember, it was hmm, woe, it was called wall of shame, that is how i ended up here too.
hmm
hmm on a side note type deal slyway was white and blue i think
it was so long ago there was another site too that i remember but it was definitely the
wall of shame that brought me here, and i been torturing you ever since lol

the first version of iMesh lite that i used had this as its home page. i read a few articles and got pretty hooked. the internal browser on iMesh woudlnt all me to space down with enter
like this.
for some reason i thought it was just a lack of another button, like a ctrl-enter combo to make the line break as you do in MS messenger

I was searching for new p2p following Napster and Audiogalaxy going down... and ZP had an up-to-date p2p directory. I was hooked to trying new clients and the most recent versions. ZP was the fix I needed. After a while I clicked on the forums and was engaged by the posting members of the time. Still here...

I honestly can't remember... I know it was way way way back in the Scour-Napster (when they were new!) days and I was looking for other p2p programs. I did a search and ZP was the 1st one to show up . I checked it out and have been here ever since.

When napster went down, and music city shut down their open nap servers to start morpheus. Searched about file sharing and ended up here.
Kept coming back every now and then, reading the forums and getting peoples opinions on the different programs out.
Joined this year for the sole purpose of pissing on a prog that ticked me off (morpheus). But, I never followed up on it. Just been spamming the place ever since.
Anyone want a free Eye-Pud?

I actually found this place when searching the net for private trackers. This site seems great and the community seems close knit.

Backwards. With your pants around your ankles too!!
But seriously, Slyck was the first forum I ever belonged to. Never posted much, but found a link to ZP there. I thought ZP was a much better site, Been here ever since. With a break or two.

I was on with the original Gnutella program and Limewire, and was searching for info on how to use them better, looking for the address for a 'supernode' or something like that. It was something where you needed to put in an address to get on the network, and you needed to find it on the web.
I read a lot, and then a few years later joined up, which was no problem because I already knew everyone here from visiting all of the time.
Does anyone remember Audiofind and Gnuttmutt, which was web based P-to-P back then? I used to love the posts on them from 'Usenet-Replayer', they were so extremely fast at the time.

Its strange what you find when you google your ZP name http://www.google.com/search?num=20&hl=en&safe=off&q=Mels_Smileys45++&btnG=Search
And sorta cool that another website liked my review of a tv show enough to post it too.
