Ok. limewire wont let me on because some message pops up and tells me that there is some sort of firewall or looped connections and it cant connect to the internet. Here is what the message says when i click on limewire: 'LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking LimeWire's access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow LimeWire access to the internet and restart LimeWire'. Can anyone help me with my problem? I already disabled the Windows firewall and disabled the Norton Auto-Protect. and btw, its limewire 4.9.17 ive never had this problem before i tried to upgrade to the new limewire and this bs happens ive tried everything opening ports up all kinds of stupid shit now firewall is shut off and it still wont work i fuckin hate limewire damnit can anyone please shed some light on my problem

First of all - never turn off your firewall. Just make sure limewire is in the exceptions list.
Secondly - Since you have NAV installed, you probably have Norton Worm Protection active. What you do is check to see if limewire is that exception list. If it isn't, add it in and the problem should be solved.

im having that same message pop up every time i want to use limewire. it says "limewire was unable to initialize and start. this is usually due to a firewall program blocking limewire's access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. please allow limewire to access the internet and restart limewire." i have limewire version 4.9.28 and my firewall is mcafee personal firewall. i've tried temporarily disabling the firewall to see if that was the problem, but that same message kept on coming up! can someone please tell me what to do to fix this problem? this is so frustrating!!

Don't trash on a program, just because you can't figure out how to use it. It works great as far as I'm concerned. You need to use port forwarding. BTW, you DON"T need to find LW Pro. I've used basic and Pro, and there is virtually 0% difference on my end. The only noticeable difference it the advert to buy pro version at startup of application.
Just add port 6346 to your exceptions list. That is the standard port for the Gnutella protocol. This holds true for any Gnutella client. It can be whatever port isn't being used actually, but you have to make sure that you reflect that port in your client options.
Please NEVER EVER turn off your antivirus or firewall. This will cause many problems since there are many W32 viruses on the internet, especially over p2p protocols.
