Easy CD Creator maked VCDs more capatable, and its interface is better than Nero Reg, although the best burner I know of is Nero Express.

Hail Nero.
easy cd creator is ok for most general purposes, but Nero is better for newbies in my opinion. that doesn't mean its an "easy" program. Tons of options, it beats easy cd creator 10 times out of 10.

I have both, but I tend to use Easy CD Creator more often because it's quicker.

I use both, but I like Easy CD, because i find it easier to print CD case covers for CDs i make for friends. Easy CD is a bit overrated but they both get the job done.

I use both, Nero for Cd's and Easy Cd for backup both have their advantages and disadvantages...you just have to get the one that'll work best for what you use your CD burner for.:cross

i prefer easy CD, although honestly i haven't had need to re-install it since upgrading to XP, which is doing everything i need right now, right from the desktop

i use easy cd, but only because i got it with my cd writer, and after i downloaded a keygen to turn it into platinum it has what i need. by the way, i thought it was interesting that around half the people in this thread are from seattle

Easy CD Creator is rotten to the core, I have heard that when you try to uninstall it, it takes system files with it that are crucial, I do not recommend it.
I have right now installed Nero,Fireburner, Monkey Audio, Exact Audio Copy, IsoBuster, WinIso, CloneCD with ClonyXXL. Best combination around.

:devil roxio has reduced it features and has many conflicts with XP, it has suffer a great PR problem with it's new upgrades and patches that don't work. dell, roxio, and MS, "bite me". i know nothing about nero as a program, but roxio lost me as a customer, hello nero. bigwilly949

If you understand what all those options are, then Nero is best. If you don't and wanna point and click, go EZ.

installs some odd things into your registry... a shoppingcompanion key for instance. also some other extranneous things, wuite a few actually, though the only one I can remember offhand is a key for matrox video cards. anyone know why?
noy gorphon.
but still. nero is much better than adaptec, and as far as I can tell, none of these odd little things send any info anywhere about you, so it is all good. maybe I didnt poke around with adaptec long enouigh but it seems like nero has TONS more options. options are good, especially when you burn lots of file types. or want to burn a bin file without a cue for instance.
edit: oh yeah. it is roxio now isnt it? whatever. it is still only passable, though marketed quite well.

i have had nothing but bad luck with nero, its slower and usually gives me more reasons to fail
easy cd creator is still the best for making music cds as far as im concerned, wmp xp just isnt as easy to use
also there are some things that xp cannot do by itself, such as bootable cds (unless that was fixed in sp1)

straight up i choose nero burning software.
it roks, i do use adaptec that came with my hp cd writeable, and i use the version suited for making cds.
but i gotta be honest, adaptec the full platinum version totaly screwed my registry up, i hate that.
it suks.
now with regard to using nero, it is absolutely a very easy burning program to learn, it is stable, and i really like it so much.

i have both i use nero for copying cds cuz it doesnt care about the cd protection if you use on the fly and i use it for data CDs and VCDS but for some reason when i scroll down in the file window it always pops back up to the top pissing me off when making music cds since i have 400 songs to go through.so i use ecdc for music but if somebody can tell me how to fix my file view window i will scrap ECD since it totally blows and nero has more features

I prefer Nero. Only because I had the problems with installing and them having errors and stuff with EZ CD. But that was a while back like 4.0 version. Now I use Nero, and blindwrite to burn most stuff. But it will come down whatever is easiest for you to use and does the least damage on YOUR machine. Each program will react different to what your computer configuration is. I know people, like on here, who have used EZ cd and never had a problem. But I also know people who had so many problems that rebuilding their machine was the only way to clear off Ez CD completely. Maybe best to try them both but make sure all your stuff is backup up before you install so if you have problems you wont loose anything.

Adaptec is now called Roxio and the new version is now complatible with nero. Earlier versions were not and people had to tweak it or choose one over the other.
The new version also works better with WinXP and has been re-written from what I heard.
You can get a copy of edonkey network.

I actually BOUGHT Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum because I didn't know about Pirated Software and keygens and all that stuff, but I had a HELL of a time installing it, it kept saying I had a previous version installed (which I didn't) anyway's, to make a long story short HP screwed around with the computer and put Adaptec keys in the registry, which was totally stupid cuz my model never had a burner built in, I had to buy one. So, I finally got it working to find out it didn't support my burner, so I had to download the update from the website and since I'm on dial-up it was annoying cuz it took nearly an hour and a half! Anyways I finally got it working just so I could burn a CD with SoundStream and it ruined a song on the CD so I didnt touch it again. For the longest time i used MusicMatch but only at a burn speed of 2x (still didn't know about pirated software) and then I got Acoustica which I really liked, but only cuz it would remove the silence at the end/start of my mp3's (At that time I FINALLY learned about pirated software), but as recently as 1 month ago I gave Easy CD Creator another shot and it worked! I was quite happy with it, the only thing I actually used it for was Back-up, not Audio, but that time audio was fine, so I kept using it, but then the update to 5.3 came out and thats where they lost me, I HATED it, it wouldnt let me create multi-session data CD's and the label maker wouldn't let me best fit tracks and it was just screwy, so I DO recommend Easy CD Creator, but NOT 5.3, only 5.1. Although I'm still not sure why it ruined the first track.

Ok.thanks for replying.
I've been using platinum 5.0 for about a year now, and i like the facilities such as fade out, cross fade, joining of tracks etc.
Problem is sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't which is a mind boggler.
maybe the new version has overcome this, i'll take a look!
thanks:bk

Ok, when i first installed 5.0P, i had MAJOR problems, it really screwed up my cd rom drivers......i reinstalled thinking the program sucked
later i found out on techtv, that there was an xp update, i installed that, WORKS GREAT!
i love it for making music/mp3/data backup (yeah i know xp has it built in, but its slow as hell for me)
something i noticed in one of the newer versions (not 5.0, not sure when it changed tho), is variable speed burning, set it to the highest, it goes to whatever the burner can handle, but only with buffer underrun protection
btw, my dad bought our version of easy cd creator, im not pirater! ;)

I myself use Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum (in which I then upgraded to 5.3 from their website). It was actually given to me by this Chinese guy (whom I still can't understand!) who assembled my computer from scratch. I've had no problems with it so far. Although I do get frustrated when it takes longer than it displays on it's remaining time, plus, it's it doesn't quite fit the width of the monitor screen, I have to adjust the screen settings later whenever I record something. But I do have the latest version of Nero 5.5.9.17, I just don't have it installed. A new update of Nero should be out soon (according to their website).

Nero all of the way. I even got nero to work (at 2X speed) on an old 486DX66 a friend of mine had. Don't ask me why he uses it. I just got it to work for him. :santa

go nero it has way cool features....you can copy CDs no matter there protection by using the on the fly option which doesnt send data like this CD DRVE------HDD-------BURNER instead with on the fly it just goes drive to burner burn a copy with no hassel....also i downloaded a copy of ECC and it focked all of my stuff up....i ended up uninstalling it and reinstalling nero to get my burner to work right

Does anyone know how to remove Easy CD from a computer without screwing things up? I've been using Nero now and would like to get rid of Easy CD if I don't need it.
Just thought I'd ask since I don't want to risk screwing anything up...

jlee48, As much as I would like to recomend using a blow torch, as I HATE easy cd creator, just go to Add\Remove Programs and uninstall it.

*Ahem* I left you a message on ICQ, but got nothing in return. ='o(
And as tempting as the blowtorch method sounds, I wouldn't want any of my good stuff getting melted in the process. I'll stick with Add/Remove.. just wanted to make sure - since someone mentioned uninstalling created problems - that I wouldn't have the same thing happen. =o)
