Hi folks,

I have an avi file that i want to burn it into dvd. I used couple programs to convert avi to dvd burnable format. Namely, I used winavi video converter and dvdsanta. With regards dvdsanta when converting an avi files to dvd, it creates a folder called VIDEO_TS and under this folder it creates the following files:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0_BUP
VTS_01_1
VTS_01_2
VTS_01_3
VTS_01_4
VTS_01_5

Then it informs me it is ready to burn the dvd and opens the window burn dvd video folder and when i click burn button, i keep getting small box that says Error Trace and in it the comment write data failed!!!. When I click ok, it ejects the dvd media from dvd burner. By the way i have SONY DVD RW DW-D22A BYS1. I tried over again and again without success and i am very frustrated. Please help.

The same thing happens when I use winavi video converter. After converting avi file into dvd burnable file formats, it takes me to window where it say add the file to burn and when I tried to do that nothing happens.

What am i doing wrong? is there an easy way to solve this problem? PLEASE HELP!!! I have other softwares in my computer that include dvd x copy platinum, dvd x rescue, copy to dvd, dvd shrink, and many more. Do these software interfere with the burning process? I don't know.

Just use Dvd shrink to burn the video ts file. When you open shrink it will ask you for media to burn, just go to the file icon at the top and click on it. Then navigate to your video ts file and off you go.
If you dont have dvd shrink, you can get it at the afterdawn.com forum, its free.

thanks for assisting me. but i still have issues. yes i have dvd shrink, but which of the video ts file i should use. because dvd santa created a "video_ ts" folder and in it these are the files.

which one is the correct one? i am more confused now!!

Select the whole folder.

Just use the whole video ts folder. Shrink will find what it needs in there.
When you open the video_ts folder with shrink, it should start analysing the video from there, then just use the backup option and your off.

dvdshrink hasn't been updated for a year (but hey i suppose it gets the job done!)

ON DVD SANTA or DVD SHRINK. Highlight all the files and click open.. DVD SANTA will tell you how much disk space the DVD will take up when burnt.. Then click on burn. DONT Select just one of the files.. Select all of them.. ALSO NERO can do the same process if you have the video express installed. Which would turn any avi to DVD files.

For one . . . make sure the damned thing is REALLY readable and playable! If not this is one hella waste of time.

Use ur DVD player software, and open the file from the TS_Video folder, and see if you can watch the dvd, if not, then why burn a piece of trash?

IF you can watch it with no problems, then I say, move the folder to a new drive space, then reboot, and try to burn again with Nero Express.

Take the dvd out and blow on it. Then re-insert and try again. If it still won't work then repeat the first step.

You can select just the Video_TS.IFO file and it will burn. If you are not using a high-priced DVD blank, try using Santa and burn at a slower rate, i.e. 4X or 2X. Make sure that if you want NTSC or PAL, your default is checked, if not proper for your location, it will not play in your TV. Good luck

Seriously try Nero works great. Simply select DVD video then drag said files into the VIDEO_TS folder and click burn. If you still receive an error then

a. file is to large, crap, converted improperly or missing a needed file
b. drivers and/or windows drive is not working properly
c. your Sony drive is choking on cheap disks
d. bad voodoo

I'd say probably either a or d but to rule out drivers, burner, and cheap disks try burning something else like a cd or another DVD.
