I have always strayed away from maxtor drives, cause i have heard of bad experiences. I usually go for Western Digital, and recently have a Hitachi that runs cool, quiet, and pretty damn fast.

BTW, the best thing to do, is keep an eye out for Best Buy and CompUSA specials, sometimes theyre really low. Also, slickdeals.net is a great place to find um...great deals.

Yup

We cover this topic so many times, and I always say "Ive had to RMA every brand in the past few years"

Then someone else says "Buy one with the longest warrenty"

The someone else says "the warrenty will not help if your drive fails, so be sure to back up all your data"

Then someone says "Watch for specials at Compusa or newegg etc"

Every time I see a hard drive thread, I hear it in my head, my lips murmer the same montra
