As an old school file sharer I have used every file sharing portal out there. I use bit torrent for the most part, but have recently tried Ares. More so for the kids to use, as it's easy for them.

Is there anything I need to look out for in Ares? I ran the Ad-aware and Spybot scans and removed all maliucious files and it still seems to run fine, as all filesharing programs do despite the warnings in the user agreements.

I've turned the chat off for now. I keep my kids on thier toes letting them think I can follow their every step on the computer, which I really can. Keeps them surfing safely.

I think Ares seems okay at first glance. Not too many Tee Vee shows tho.

At least these replies are from some older Zero paid folks and not a bunch of newbies, even tho my post count isn't high, I'm here all the time.

I ran Ares at school a few times last year through a SOCKS proxy to get around some of the college network restrictions, and I was pleased with it. Haven't used it since however..

Yurning off Chat in the CP turns off Personal Chat, like a PM your Kids can still click on Chat & eneter the Rooms & Chat.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

Our computer is in a central location in the house and not tucked away in some dark corner. That saves on haivng to second guess on what the kids are up too.

The only thing I can think of with Ares (which may be a positive or a negative, depending on how you look at it) is that Ares will always share partials and your download folder. The only other thing I can think of is that, at least with an older version I used, the upload speed of partials were not effected by the upload limit. Which can over saturate your net connection. A program like NetLimiter will let you fix that, though ( http://www.netlimiter.com/ )

When I turn Ares-lite on, all the files that didn't complete before are now gone. They aren't

on the transfer section. What's going on?

Thanks

Before what?

Make sure the download location is set to the same place as before.

the only thing you really have to look out is the chat. I know, we all have fun going in the chat rooms and talking shit[well I do anyways,], but hey, you don't want your kids doing that, and I can respect that, I think. :PAnyways, IMO, your best bet is to use filepipe [turning fasttrack [fastcrap] off, ofcourse]
http://www.filepipe.org
You can configure the ports it use in the preferences. Something last I checked, kceasy lacked. Also to keep things really more sucure, tell your kids to always specafy what there looking for[audio vidio], because it only brings the posability of acidentaly downloading something they don't want up if they just search under everything. I drank to mutch coffee.
lol
