Hey there all,
Ok, I need a little bit of help if possible. I know how to use Norton Ghost and make a bootable cd/dvd image...but.... I have my "master" drive partitioned. So here's the thing....
I need to know if there is a way using ghost or another program out there that will allow me to make an image of the c:/ partition only!
I just re-installed XP etc. and before I start adding a bunch of prog's and stuff on, I would like to make a clean image for later use when it's time to reload again.
Thanks for any advice and help!

I've used Ghost before. I should give you the option to use disk or partition. Are you booting from the Ghost boot floppies/CD? That is how you will have to do it my friend. If you don't have the Ghost boot floppies, just format two floppies and copy the files from Ghost: you can do this in the program. Then once you have created your boot floppies, boot with that. You go into DOS (obviously). This is where you will have the option to choose disk or partition. Hope this helps. btw, which version of Ghost are you using? Not that that should matter.

I got a trial version of ghost 8.0 I believe it is. I created the 2 floppies last night and booted from them, when to image the drive, but it only gave me the option to image the whole drive.
HMMM....
thanks for the replies!

Ok, I think I figured it out. I just tested a boot up with Ghost 2003 here at work, and seen where I would choose "Partition" rather than just "Image"
Thanks again for your time and help!

Stomp MyBackup puts a ghost image on a bootable cd, how many depends obviously on the partition size.

Youre welcome, I'm happy to have been of assistance to you. There are many things that I'm not sure about and this is how we can share information and learn from one another. I did Ghosting over a network when I was a college intern, that's how I learned about Ghost. Once again, glad to help.

Yeah, I aggree...I'm a computer tech. but I don't know everything. Therefore, if I can't figure it out, I like to use the forums and get help from others who may have had the same issues or now of fixes, etc.

Ghost always worked well for me,but I switched to Acronis True Image about 4 months ago and I really like it. I am somewhat prejudiced towards Symantec due to thier failure to update some of their older programs like Norton File Manager and the once great Speeddisk.(now a sad joke)

I use Ghost every day.
My best advice is to read this guide: http://ghost.radified.com
