Ok. It's your choice. I can accept that. But I demozalise when I heard that. ;).
Your answer is a bad news for me ...
if we want to know how works/runs ANts in multi-sources situation, we need more users.
The speed of ANts is not representative of it's possibilities.
it's why a J-Mule plug-ins could be a great idea.
(please do not simply answer no because it's an unconstructive answer).

Don't understand what you really want to say with this stupid affirmative. P2P will be never fully anonymous and I have used the terme ''anonymous" because it will be more and more difficult to know who you are, what your are doing, uploading, downloading, with ANts than with Emule.
With Emule by exemple, it's a kindgame !
With ANts, there is main problems to discover what you are doing on the net : (proxys in another countries,, crypted connections, etc...).

Correct, but it sounds as a huge work. No developers wants anonymous network, only Gwren, Clarke and few others think privacy is holy :icon_sunn .

but, as well the emuel developers can´t deny, that one time in the furture they need this.
Wait for a few months and the opinion has changed.

Ants has the best pre.conditions to be hybrid with the worlds biggest network media repository, Ants was always ahead, to mute to i2p, to i2phey and as well to azureus over i2p.

so... an integrated version is always better, though gwren has a lot of work on other jobs.
He will watch to lose not the race.

To the technical side:
Gwrens code is not simple, so he is in favour to do it only.
But he already said, that servers could be an issue.
In ants they do not make sense, so they have to be in ants direct connect (ants dc)
If you then choose own servers or existing servers, this question is as well clear:
Ants do not want to be an emuel clone, so no need to invent the wheel twice.
Ants needs not own servers for ants dc, cause ants anon is the main competency and ants is not emule, so ants uses only an existing media partial resource, which is emule connection for ants dc.
If ants anon woudl use servers, then we could use own servers, in ants dc there is no need to use own server, zero users on ants dc decentral will get zero users in ants dc server.
so ants dc has the only way to use emuel servers to be hybrid with for 2 reasons: to get th emedia rpository, and to not make a competition with emule for a not used network in competition to a 5-Million network. So the way seems to be clear:
Implementing jmule in ants dc for hybrid partials.

there are as well other priorities: maybe the speration of ants gui and core, for other developers to go on, but there are no others, so gwren is in favour to do it. And thats why gui seperation has no priority. servers have more interest even from the userbase and community.

so an ants search shoudl allow, that ants dc nodes forweard the request to emuel servers.

this is what we could call a one hop proxy search through a gatekeeper to emule.
