Ants P2P 1.1.8 – SSL Transfers

Change log:

SSL Transfers: This is designed to make p2p transfers look like normal internet traffic and allow you to get through most firewalls.
You must set your port number to 443 and be sure to set your external IP in the settings panel and click on option to search Gweb cache and IRC for peers. Ants now uses only ONE port number.

Fixed Deadlocks: This version fixes many issues that resulted in stalled transfers.

Fixed Swarming: Over time, as changes where made, it seems the swarming feature of ants became incompatible. Changes have been made to the code to make swarming optimal.

64 k Packet Transfers: The size of each chunk transfered has been increased for 32 k to 64 k. The purpose is to make it faster. The cost may be more overhead.

General summery:
Ants P2P is designed to protect the identities of its users by using a series of middleman nodes to transfer files from the source to destination. As additional security, transfers are Point-to-Point as well as EndPoint-to-EndPoint secured.

AWESOME!!! I will try this now that it seems to be getting better. I have never really used ants in the past because of the firewall issue, but all my ports are forwarded so i can go for it!

Be sure to set external ip in settings pannel. Do not pick 192.xx.xxx or 169.xx.xx.xx those are internal ip's. You will not connect with those.

ants won't let me choose anything else. I only have 192.xxx.x.x and no other option!

yes, it has great speeds,
search could be a little bit faster, but seems to be ok.
Good work.
What now is needed is a test with a bigger user-base to test the search function.
How do we get the bigger userbase ?
Introducing a graphic bar for partials like emule has, even if later there wil be a new gui, we need some partials, so that users see graphicvally, that the file is slowly or fast completing !!

thanks.

Then furthermore we can adjust the search engine better, mabe not with pulled, but pushed supernodes, and a direct connection between supernodes.

then we need a connection hybrid for direct ants with emule ! Thanks !!!!!

that is very strange. Are you sure you were connectedtothe internet at the time? set to port 443

192.xx.xx is internal. For somereason your node does not see outside connection.

the direct connect option is not working very well at the moment. Gwren is aware. So keep that option clicked off. Apperentlly that feature needs to be updated for the latest changes.

Also the http tunneling needs to be brought up to date. The search go through supernodes. The http searches where never coded to go through supernodes so when you do http search you only seach your connected neighbor. This does not effect normal p2p operation.
