View Full Version : Leaving!
Morgwen

I have decided to stop my support for Gnutella and file sharing!
There are several reason for this but the main one is, I canīt close my eyes and ingore in which direction Gnutella is moving!
I told my opinion about this, now several users started to badmouth my support in general! So I donīt want to waste my "private" time anymore...
Its not me who should decide if my support was usefull or not, I hope I have helped many of you!
Good bye,
Morgwen

That's the second time you do this, man. Maybe you're taking the whole things a little bit too seriously?
Relax..... Breathe in... Breathe out....

The last time I ment I want to leave zeropaid but this has nothing to do with this story here!
This time I leave ALL forums... and this is no fast decision, I am thinking about this for several months now!

Not that you owe anybody an explanation, but I'm curious as to what your reasons are. Hey, it would make a great thread for discussion for when you're gone! :shy
Anyway, I hope you chill on the issue and regain some perspective. I may be cursed for this by others here, but much as I love filesharing I'd never take it seriously enough that I'd actually spend months considering a decision regarding it.
It's all just a means to an end, a somtimes hobby, and an interesting field in IT. That's all.

I spent a lot of time for Gnutella with support etc. and I like many people around... but many of them left too... I moderated several websites regarding file sharing, it was a little more than a hobby for me!
Now I share my files and let others do the support!
About my reasons, I īsaid I donīt like the direction in which Gnutella is moving... Spyware, Vinnie, clustering, trolls asking money for clients etc.!
And some private ones!

Well, fair enough and best of luck.
You see, much like you now I am a user first and foremost, and I wil offer my support when I have something to contribute. But no way I'd let anything like that get to me like that.
Vinnie, I think people know how I feel about him. Spyware, trolls, etc... all part of the game. Without controversy there is no evolution, and whatever doesn't evolve dies.
So take it all in and love it, for it's all part of the great game of cyberspace.

Although we've had our fair share of debates. Just because i dont share the same opinions or ideals as morgwen doesnt mean that i have anything personal against him. Anyways im sure that you will be missed and good luck to you in the future.
As for the direction of gnutella time will tell...

This thread make sense?
According to the date posted this was announced in May.
Yet certainly I have seen his posts here recently, so I assume that he posted today.
Whatever the date, if we drive each other away, we suck.
I think you should stay around because I valued your opinion.

I do think it is obvious that I am a dope. Sorry about the last reply, but it makes a point that that we should check the dates on the posts before posting a reply.

I can feel the Gnutella Network crumbling as Morgwen leaves.
This is a sad day in Gnutella history.

This is not right... I donīt support Gnutella in the same way anymore. I supported some developers behind the scenes and tried to help the people with their problems, now I post only sometimes... (ealier I posted about 30 posts a day).

I think some people take P2P a little too seriously. I don't. I'm here to have fun and relax. Its only a hobby of mine after all.

no doubt. but its also illegal. IMHO therefore it should be taken seriously.... just like anything else that might one day find you in jail... if its not taken seriously then no one will take usseriosuly. If no onetakes us seriously then there is no chance of ever changing the legality of something so simple as the free transfer of information.
