Is there anyway I can restore my bookmarks and stuff in Firefox when it just randomly decides it want to forget them for no reason?
Is there an easy way to export bookmark setting etc so that next time it happens I can just re-import all my bookmarks etc?
Thanks

If you have more than 1 profile, have you tried opening the profile manager to check it hasn't switched profiles on you?

I only have 1 profile, I'm pretty sure. It's done it a couple of times before.

i backup my entire profile (Documents and Settings\$user\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles\)
every once in a while just add it to a zip file after deleting the cache to save space.

the bookmark manager (bookmarks>manage bookmarks) allows you to {im|ex}port your firefox bookmarks

Its in the bookmar section on top, just go to manage bookmarks.. Import, save, and everything.

Ive had this happen to me before but I had a ton of tabs open. It was like, I couldnt connect to anymore webpages even though my internet connection was fine. I closed firefox, but when I tried to open it again it gave me the profile manager. what you have to do is kill firefox manually by using task manager for windows or kill command for linux. for mac i have no idea since im not rich and dont buy apple products. Hope this helps.

its still better than IE... I mean the javapxy.dll exploit that went upatched for almost a week? WTF! Then the drag and drop vuln that M$ said wasn't a security issue for 7 months!

BTW SessionSaver(http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/sessionsaver) is my favorate plugin

"Firefox is crap."

What? I'm afraid you're mistaken. Firefox is the farthest thing from "crap" you'll find in the browser category, in my humble opinion. Yeah!

"Is there anyway I can restore my bookmarks and stuff in Firefox when it just randomly decides it want to forget them for no reason?"

Yes, Bookmarks-->Manage Bookmarks-->Then File (In the new window.)-->Import. Of course this answer assumes you've backed them up by exporting them already. As for "stuff" I'm afraid you'll have to clarify.

Is there an easy way to export bookmark setting etc so that next time it happens I can just re-import all my bookmarks etc?

See above, but choose Export instead of import (They are right next to each other). As for etc... again you'll have to clarify.

this happened to me once....where id close firefox cause it was being slow (RAM thing only complaint, thankfully if you google it, u can config Firefox to not take up so much RAM). It started up with asking me to choose a profile, i chose to make a new one and thought all my bookmarks were gone. So I just ctr+alt+del and stopped the process and restarted and it worked fine for me. hope that helps, probably dosen't lol.

This is typical of the firefox goon squad. Someone shows up with a genuine issue with the browser and rather than provide ways of helping the guy out all they can do is fire insults at him and tell him it must be HIS fault.

Yeh, for a myriad of reasons firefox really is crap; but not so crap as the firefox "community".

I only use Firefox because of tabbed browsing saves space on my start bar. I'd use Internet Explorer more if it had tabbed browsing, i just find it better, because it loads pages faster, and dont tell me about security issues, every program has security issues, Firefox (Latest) must have security issues that no one has found yet, only time will tell.

gee that's funny the first page was full of people giving advice on how to fix it or prevent it from happening again.

Any movie in which Clint Eastwood tears ass across the sky in a jet that he controls with his mind isn't crap!

Actually, I never watched it. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is my Favorite Eastwood movie latley, although he did a lot of westerns I like too.

Have you ever heard of that band called "Go Fuck Yoursef !!" , They sing a good song called " Suck My Fucking Dick !!"

If you're going to insult someone because they have a legitimate problem...

...at least have the guts to do it directly.

Considering the message you are obviously trying to communicate... the original poster has done well not to bite back at you yet.

That part was not directed at him.
