Hello all,

I've followed the guide and this is where I'm at:

latest version of azureus
updated java
windows xp sp2 with firewall turned off
on a cable modem, linksys befcmu10, no router installed
running norton systemworks 2004, configured internet worm protection to permit all under program control for azureus and java, under general rules allowed ports 16881-16889 tcp/udp for local and remote and did the same for port 6969
applied port 16881 in azureus to listen
i'm not sharing my internet connection
when i start a torrent and double click on it, under the peer tab in the T column are all L's, which i beleive stands for local, i've never seen R, remote from what I understand
my download speeds range from 1 - 15 if i'm lucky.
I vary my upload speeds to see if I get better download but no dice
I have no clue what a green smiley looks like in azureus
Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.

update...
I called my isp and asked them if they block ports and they said yes. I then replied that is probably the reason my p2p program is not working and he replied yes. He said something in the lines of ...
I needed to map my computer to them so I can get around the port issue and get a static ip address which they want to charge me an additional $6.95 a month for. Could really use an opinion here. Thanks.

I called back my isp and I told them to sign me up for the static ip and all that. He said it would get done later that evening. When I went to bed nothing had changed in azureus but when I woke up I saw my first green smiley and a download speed of 102 kb/s. I guess if you've done everything in the guide and still no green smiley make sure to call your isp and ask them about port blocking and the static ip address. See ya!
