Oh and phex is very nice gnutella client. Right up there with limewire and bearshare :)

i noticed that as well, most of em had 0 posts, and well madhu is an Indian name, and there is no way an indian chick will download phex, she will we to n00b for this, i know what i am talking

If Phex seems unwelcome here, it's only because of past experiences with many other apps claiming to be something better than they are and we've seen our share. There is nothing wrong with being cautious. Myself, I prefer to wait until I hear people rant on about how good the app is before I will try it. So when I noticed that all the members that were recommending it, were people I've never heard of, that gives me a red flag.

Sometimes I even have to be forced by my users to release new features from CVS because I just forgot about them. :drunken_s
Its fun for me to share my work if others like it and if not its fine too I'm doing it more out of the development fun then out of a business perspective.
Also Phex was never targeted at the main stream user who likes to have an easy and sexy interface. It is more for the advanced user who likes to have control over many things and likes to have displayed more on the interface. Some like others dont.
Additionally it turned out to be a development alternative for students who just like to have more influence in the team and on a software compared with working on Limewire.

I doubt remember that little thing I caught. But I did. I would also like to know if you're a solo developer right now. because it very much seems that way. But it's been a while. Because If I am thinking correctly, the original creator of shareaza doesn't work on it as much as he used to since it went open source. even though yours has been open source as long as I can remember, It seems that over time you gain project members. So I was just confused by what you meant by that student thing.

phex is the best p2p ever i used it it jump the connections to 99 and i connected to 99 ultrapeers it search so many results way more then morhpeus bearshare and limewire. its the most amzing this ive ever seen.! omg!

Phex is fine, just like any other gnutella app. The only diffrerence I have ever found is: user interface and the number of connections, like ultrapeers and whatnot. Phex gives you more than Limewire basic, but the ui sucks compared to lw. Phex seems similar to gnucleus, I believe. Phex is written in java. I cannot say which is best, because it would only be my personal opinion. I like Limewire better than phex, because of ui, but ui aside, I like Gnucleus better than Limewire. Just my opinion. Bearshare is cool too, but I am afraid of spyware. Shareaza and morpheus are cool too. They all use the same gnutella protocol. Some may be implemented a bit differently, but they all connect to the same network. Try all of them then make your own decision, which is best. Have fun, but not too much, lol...

Yes, I remember that bug :) I guess there are some more spelling errors in it ;)

Well I'm almost the only developer that stayed with it from beginning of Phex. Right now we have three active developers, the next release will include there work. They both did something for a university project.

Additionally there is Arne who supports Phex since a long time with his Mac release and always comes up with very usefull ideas, tests and other things.

Yes, we had to limit that. Too much abuse was happening with it. Too many people raised the value overly high. The little more results you get dont justify the additional unnecessary traffic that it creates which can harm the network.

Phex works. I only used it for linux sice there are a lot better programs for windows than phex. It works well on linux though as long as your java is set up right. If not, this may take some time. Limewire works well on linux too. Limewire is probably better, but i think they have a much wider development team and much more money to work with at lw. Phex is a good opensource app, but then so is limewire.
