Quintessential Media Player (formerly Quintessential Player) is all about you. With its freeform skinning and plentiful choices of plugins it can be as simple or feature rich as you like. It knows its place and won't try to take over your system. It is as user friendly as we can make it, but still hardcore enough for the pros.

If you are running XP and haven't tried QCD for videos or VLC for music then you are really missing out. Both all but eliminate the hunting of any sort of codex or missing stuff needed to play whatever it is you are after. However, get your VLC very soon if you haven't already. Google bought it out and has announced plans to add adware to the the program.

Since I am not running XP any longer, other than source code, it isn't something I can use.

Forgot something, QCD will even play bin files without burning. Try that on Microsucks Mediaplayer and see how far you get.

i need a few things in a media player

it needs to have the skip forwrd function of winamp (press right or left cursor keys and it will skip 5 seconds either way) that is essential to me.

volume control on my scroll wheel.

very fast startupand low system usage

and most importantly, global hot keys (i have control of my media player even when it is minimised to the tray, with simple key combos.

anyone know of a media player that can do all that ???

ive only found winamp and its a little slow on startup and a bit heavy on recources compared to media player clasic

i tried vlc and didnt like it for it lacked some of the above features (although a fine player)

tried QCD and i like it

only one problem

when u adjust volume on it, it adjusts the wave volume and therefore my overall system volume

which is a pain

any way to sort it ?
