I've read several guides on how to optimize my speed for bittorrent, but I usually get average speeds of about 70kb/s. My friends all get about 200kb+ and I'm on a cable provider like them (5mb). I use EZ (etrust) firewall and open the incoming and outcoming TCP ports on for 6881-6889 and also the 6969 port for the tracker. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Well, I only leave them open for about 30min to see if there's a difference and then close the ports.
anybody that uses EZ firewall or knows how to configure it? Or is my problem something else? When I run ABC the torrent color is green though....yet how am I not getting speeds of 200kb+ even with 50+ seeders and 100+ downloaders?
also should i open a port for the listener port?
Actually, after reading a lot of these posts, it seems my speeds are pretty normal? I've reached a max of 160KB/sec before dropping back to 70-80. So there's no way I can increase it past 200kb/s?
I've also noticed that when I limit the upload speed, my dl speed goes down, but for some people their speed increases? I'm using Bit Comet by the way.
Sorry I'm so new to this
