A friend of mine has been sued for using limewire. What are the odds of that happening to me? Right now im afraid so i only download local, unsigned bands but i would like to download others to and share my cds.

If you use the less popular p2p then you decrease your chance of getting sued. Uploading is the major issue here. If you upload a lot, your chances of getting sued is higher. But basically, if you're very afraid then use p2p less often or don't use it at all.

Also, if you have dynamic IP address instead of a static Ip address. Chances of getting sued, will decrease a lot!

I know some people don't have too much faith in IP blockers, but I still think they're decient - they work by blocking known IP addresses that are believed to belong to the RIAA, etc., from accessing your computer. Probably the best one I for Windows is Peer Guardian 2: http://www.methlabs.org

almost all ISP's store IP address records, if you leech off your neighbors unsecured wireless you can get away with it though.

If your neighbor(s) are not computer 1337! But, if one of them are, there is still a chance you be reported. It is illegal to steal bandwidth!!! BTW, ISPs doesn't keep the logs long enough so RIAA lawyers filing hundreds or thousands lawsuits won't get them in time! At this time, ISPs are not legally required to keep those logs forever.
