Help me please, whenever I try to play san andreas or Battlefield 1942, I get the error on my monitor that says "out of range"
I don't know what to do! how do I change the vertical and horizontal sync range on my monitor or for the game?

Goddamn I hate sites that lure you in with the problem and then you have to pay to SEE THE FUCKING ANSWER!!!
Evilmegaman... use the query "bf1942 refresh rate" in google to find the answer you are looking for... or just do this:
make sure you do this.-----> (the file will open with "notepad"..to edit it and just save it that way) Open the videodefault.con file found in Settings\VideoDefault.con
-Edit the line: renderer.allowAllRefreshRates # (where # can be replaced
by 0 or 1)
-Changing this value to one will allow you to select the refresh rates from the
Options>Video section of the in-game frontend. NOTE: the game will default to 640x480. This info found here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-1522.html
Before you do that, i would suggest saving a copy of the videodefault.con file prior to changing this setting... I can never trust anonymous tips (but this looks like the right answer after hunting around).
An even better fix is located here: http://www.forumplanet.com/planetnile/topic.asp?fid=8611&tid=1540758
This is far more complicated though... I would misuse Occam's razor (like that works for computer related issues) and go for the simpler answer first.

Or at least sites that make you think you have to.
If you scroll down really far on Wipeout's link, the solution he intended is there.

So what everything says is use reforce find a refresh rate that works and everything will be peachy?
