SAN FRANCISCO, June 20 (Reuters) - A new video game which lets players join crime gangs and kill police officers has become the target of a proposed boycott by a U.S. Senator.
Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat from New York, said the "cop killer" video game, called "25 to Life", had hit an "all-time low" and discouraged the sale and distribution of the title, due out this summer.
"'25 to Life' makes 'Grand Theft Auto' look like 'Romper Room'," Schumer said on Monday in comments e-mailed by a spokeswoman. The blockbuster video game series "Grand Theft Auto" from Take-Two Interactive is frequently criticized for its violence.

No, I meant it's 5 years old graphics quality. Here, I'll show you this one:

Edit:
Actually, it's 7 years old. I remember I saw graphics like that in the original half life. Even if they did sell this game, nobody will buy it. I'm sure gamespot will give it around 2 out of 10 or maybe they won't even review it at all.

The Senator is actually working for the game company, they knew the game looked like shit, so they called him ask him to get some publicity going for the game so people will buy it. DUH!

I believe that this game actually has some sort of cutscene in it showing a cop being killed. Not Sure though, My local News was showing some footage that looked like it.

@ anyone who thinks games like this should be banned
what if you played a game where you are a cop, and you get killed, or commit suicide by jumping off a cliff, or running into a mob of baddies. is that a cop killer game too? should it be banned like all video games?

I think the difference is that in GTA if you kill a cop you face consequences. You can kill cops but you dont have to, i cant remember a particular level where you had kill cops.
Maybe the purpose of '25 to life' is to kill cops to further the game. That could be the difference.

its a free country, so it should NOT be banned. I personally think its kinda sik and would NOT want my children to see something like that, at least not on my watch...know what I mean? There are pleny of other games just like it I'm sure though. It shouldn't be up to our government to decide what gets seen and what doesn't anyway. Thats up to interpretation for mature adults to decide. The only government intervention at all, should be the little M for mature sticker or whatever. If this is really graphic, that is, I'm sure it has such a sticker, or whatever, thus providing some sort of age limit to vendors and retailers. This would be no different than not allowing a small child to buy porn or something else of an "adult" nature. But for crying out loud, let the adults have their fun please, and stop trying to run my friggin life Senator!

Exactly, I personally dig the war-like games where you can blow up Nazis, terrorists, what have you. Those are very fun.

I'm looking for a crackerjacker-killer game. So far the only ones I have found overwhelm you with such great numbers, there's no point in killing them off.
I'm not giving up though.

Ban this game now! Violence in games is okay if used properly. In games like GTA, violence is not used properly. The latest news from japan is shocking!

A boy murdered his parents. This improper use of violence needs to stop now !
